Ok I don't mean on the tbrake at wot. Just if I am staged before the other guy waiting. Can I have it activated and not on the gas for a little while?

Yes, but even at idle or very little throttle while activated, being on the transbrake will build heat in the transmission. I'm sure of that fact based on my temp gauge readings, but I'm not sure if there are other factors or reasons you wouldn't want to stay activated on the brake too long...

Don't see how it would build anymore heat in the fluid if your at idle with the transbrake on or off. As far as the brake itself, it's just a solenoid being held with 12v, I would think you would have to activate it for a really long time to wear it out. I know I do mine the same as you, as soon as I'm in it's activated even at idle. Do you courtesy stage or double bulb if your ready before the other guy?

I don't double bulb at all; always light one if I'm the first to the beams and wait for them to light the pre stage before I go in.
As I stated, I'm no transmission expert, but the temperature gauge doesn't lie

I am going to piggyback this question a bit. After both of you are staged, at what point do you throttle up against the transbrake? Do you throttle up immediately or after X bulb lights on the tree?

I run a two step rev limiter that works only when the transbrake is on. It lets the car sit at 3K on the transbrake and when I let off of the transbrake the engine revs almost instant to flash the converter and the car leaves the line.

Are you running this on an LT1 or something else? If its on the LT1, what do you have to do/get to get a rev limiter to work?
Thanks,
Joe

I like this idea and actually have a two step that I bought on mistake. What does your converter stall at and what does it flash to when the transbrake is released?

I use a starting line enhancer. Pedal drops to the floor when the button is set, engine set to fast idle. After button released, rpm jumps to launch rpm after .9 seconds. Can sit and wait forever if need be!

Good point ^^^^
I usually also raise my rpm by a few hundred to get the line pressure up before bumping into the second beam and engaging the transbrake.
