Default Post pictures of cut shock towers

Looking for someone on here who has cut out the front and rear metal from the shock towers, and if you braced it with bars or not. Had a buddy tell me he seen a picture floating around on here of the front and rear metal removed with tube supports on both sides. Please post up whatever you have. Thanks

No Brians car is gutted all to hell!! haha. similar to that but instead of having a roll cage bar supporting it there would be 2 bars on ether side of the tower connecting from the frame to the upper fender. I might just have to do it.

Maybe I'm missunderstanding, but if you don't have a full cage extending past the shock towers to the front part of the frame which inherently adds support to the shock tower, then why would you cut out the front/rear part of the shock tower? If you're trying to save weight, I think you'll add more weight back onto the car with bracing than the small amount of weight removed in sheet metal.

Again though, maybe I'm missing something or missunderstanding the idea?

So i take you MUST have bars in front of the firewall to pull this off? What if you only removed the front pieces not the rears.

The part you are talking about is a thinner sheet metal, and you probably would be ok if you only removed those and nothing else.

I would not, however do this to anything other then a track only car... The amount of dirt and debris you will send into the engine bay will have you cleaning it like crazy if you drive on normal roads..... Unless having the engine bay look as ugly as possible is your goal.

to the people doing the 12 point cages, are you having them custom made or buying kits?
