Default Th400 3.42s.... Help pick stall

Hey guys, doing a th400 swap in my 10ss and I am torn on the stall! This is a daily driver so I sticking with 3.42s. I know it's not a 4th gen but what are you guys running in your street cars?

I talked to PTC and he was thinking a 3200 and said that will give me the best of both worlds. But and torn if I should go higher

My car is cam only ls3 218/228 on 112 and tires are tall 28.+

Nothing gives you the best of both worlds. The 3200 might work okay on the street, but will be far from optimal at the track. The only thing that will make a 3200 also work well on the track is a small shot of NOS for the launch like us turbo guys use.

Why are you putting a TH-400 in a daily driver?

Why not? I have had many th400 cars, last car had the same gears and ran great on the street! The only thing is I had a 2400 stall in the setup, never ran any more stall until I put 4.10s in it. Question is what or how much stall can I get away with and be fine on the street with 3.42s?

I too don't really understand the logic...and I've been a TH400 user longer than most here.

If you're going to stick with 3.42, then why not a 6L80. It requires less stall and with your "cam only" the 60FT times will be much better!

The higher stall is nice but with just a 3.42, you will need a VERY good trans cooler. I gain about 30 to 40 degrees (trans) going from 4:10 to 3:08.

I drove many TH-350 and 400's back in the 1970's.
And I have a 400 in my race car now but it's a race car.
Not street driven. Just don't understand why someone would
Want to drive a trans without OD on the street.

A 3200 will work pretty beast with that cam choice.
