Default Installing CSR shield - out of patience help please

For the life of me I can't get the steel bracket thing in place. Firewall, floorboards and tunnel are all in the way. Even if I could get it in place there is no way I could start any of the long bolts that came with it. I've raised the transmission as high as I could, I've lowered it as low as it will sag. The actual shield is on but I cant get the bracket to fit. I'm at my wits end it's been days. Any tips greatly appreciated. TH400 and LT1 with stock engine mounts.

Thank you.

I have one on my car with a LT1 with solid mounts. I cut four 1 inch holes in the firewall to gain access to the bell housing bolts and transmission in and outs are now a breeze.

I'm going to try without the bracket today. I still don't see how I will be able to even start a couple of the bolts. There is just no room to get them in. The bolt head wants to be where the firewall is. My next plan was to drop the headers and see if I can get the transmission to sag even more.

Tensec94z - What did you plug the holes with and was it easy to measure and do? That sounds like a great option.

i wouldnt run one without that bracket, what i did was installed the shield without the trans attached to see where i might run into fitment problems, marked where i thought it would cause trouble grabbed a torch heated up the areas and hit it with a rubber hammer. make sure you install the top bolts into the shield and trans before you meet the motor to the trans

Well I unbolted the headers. This let me drop the tailshaft enough to get the bracket and bolts all in and torqued up!

You can see here tons of room on the passenger side and top was OK too:

The issues is... the driver side. I wasn't pulling the trans again by myself so I just cut the car. Fits fine now. I wish I would have known before, so I could have just beat it with a hammer. Now I need to seal it up with something.

i would just make the cut clean and use a thin piece of sheet metal and use some weather proof sealant

the cut looks worse in the pic becaue of the angle. It's a nice rectangle. I'm deciding if I should cut the last part of the rectangle and then make a nice plate the bolts on and off, or, just do like you said.

Agree. Now that I have clearance I know I have to drop the headers, then it will angle down enough for me to get at all 6 bolts easily. But yeah, still a pain. At least my feet are safe launching, that's what it's all about.
