I used the '86/'89 springs, wound from smaller wire for lighter cars.

What does your car weigh, Ed?
I'm sure there's a weight limit in your class.

Min weight is 3235, I usually go across the scales at 3245 or 3250.

SS /JA, 11 lbs per hp, 279 factored HP, plus 170 for driver. I weight a LITTLE more than that. LOL 3235 min with me in it.
That comes out to 3239, but they round down to the next 5. Their scales weigh in 5 lb increments.

Records go to a minimum if not reset within two years. Don O'Malley held it at 9.85 last, nobody bumped it within 2 years so it went back to a minimum. Not much use in setting one, other than ego, since they no longer award points for setting them. Years ago an et record was same points as winning 2 rounds of eliminations. Not worth going through tear down, to most guys, for their name in National Dragster like it is now. We run off an index now. SS/JA index it 11.00, no problem there.

Had it back halved year before last. Eastexas Racecars did it. Vic & Dewayne Custer did a great job. Five years before that it was on 10.5" radials and stock suspension, and was just as fast on good tracks. Doesn't care what the tracks are like now. Thanks to Vic & Dewayne I think it would hook in a car wash. I fight big wheel stands now, not wheel spin.

What about running S/S in a stock suspension car? By the way that means that 2 years ago guys were out running your best e.t. by 1/2 a tenth???

Don set that record at an altitude corrected track in the fall (very cool air) with a tail wind. He has never out run me in class eliminations. I went a couple thou red against him once. I put about a half a car day light on him last time we raced.

You have never seen me say I was the fastest. But, ask around, I normally qualify near the top.

Not sure why I would owe you any kind of explanation, but if your fast enough that way, why spend more money? Marginal tracks in the 100 + degree summer days here in div 4 often made the starting lines unpredictable. That is the only reason I had it back halved. 90% of the time it was fine on 10.5"s and stock suspension.

Need to makes sure they are original used springs. You can't buy 93-97 v6 springs at autoparts stores anymore. They are the same spring rate as the v8's. That was years back though, don't know if they make different part numbers now.

Parts store springs (Moog, etc) are a universal replacement. If still available, might be the same deal from the GM dealer. You best bet would be taking calipers to a Camaro/Firebird salvage and measure used springs. The previous gen F body springs fit and are wound from smaller wire since those older F bodies are lighter cars.

I'm going to a few junk yards and take them off the car myself.
One yard has 3 '93-'97 V6 cars.

Ive got 3 sets myself and before i change the rear shocks i'm going to see which work best. Stock V8 (WS6) V6 Springs or the Eibach Pro's. So far Stock v8's cut 1.30 eibach pros 1.44 with the back tire and havent tried the V6 yet. I'll keep you posted

If you are dead hooking on the WS6 springs, the V6 springs won't help except on a slick track.

They will only help on hot or cold, slick tracks.
Most cars I run with, and running those kinds of times, 60' almost a tenth quicker than that. A guy I race with runs a higher class SS car than I do runs 9.teens to 9.30s goes high 1.teens to very low 1.20s.
Your going enough MPH to go 8.90s.

Whose converter you using?
