Default Mickey Thompson or Hoosier Drag Radials?

Looking to get a new set of drag radials for next season. I have Mickey Thompson DR's now and they have been great but was thinking of trying a pair of Hoosier's. Now I've read all over the place about both with cars that are really fast but not much for a car like mine. Has anyone ever had experience with both and was it positive or negative? I don't care about how they are on the street because the only time they see street use is when I swap out the street tires and drive to the track.

I was running the MT drag radials 275/60/15, my best was a 1.61 60ft with them but on average was 1.63. I did nothing but switch to the hoosier 275/60/15 drag radial and the car cuts 1.55-1.56 60fts. I have made about 10 passes on the hoosiers and a couple hundred street miles and they still look new but I have heard the Mickeys last longer. We will see.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not too concerned with how long they last if I can run faster and be more consistent. They are about 9lbs a piece lighter.

I don't have any experience with M/T's, but I made a couple passes with a set of 275 Hoosier's on a 15" wheel (can't remember the sidewall for the life of me). This was in my bolt-on M6 car. Managed a best 60' of 1.63, which I was very happy with. Tires worked well. Probably could have cut it down a bit but I didn't want to grenade the 10-Bolt.

Never tried the Hosiers, but running the MT DR's and been 1.546 so far and not the best suspension. A buddy has been 1. teens and 8.47 @ 157 on them in a BBC Nova on a 350 hit....they do work.
The Pro MT DR's set all kinds of new records when they came out in X275 class.

I was thinking about the pro's but I talked with a Mickey Thompson rep at SEMA this year and he said I'd be better of sticking with the ET street. Also, the pro is only a 28" tire and I run a 26.

The Hoosier would be your best bet size wise and since you're not worried about tire life. The Hoosier came out after the Gen 1 Mickey Thompson and really shook up the small tire scene. People have been consistent low 1.1's on the Hoosier but the new M/T has been quicker. I have no doubt that the Hoosier can go faster than it's been but people aren't going to try anymore. M/T took over the scene because they sponsor a lot of the big races and in some classes it's the only tire/brand you can run.

I'm running Hoosier 17317 dr and cut 1.51 on 5 out of 8 passes so far. Once I get suspension dialed in I'm hoping for 1.3x

Thanks everyone for the feedback I appreciate it. Unless I find a smoking deal on MT's again I will be trying out the Hoosier DR's this time around.

I have mt drs and they been great. If the car was on the track more I would get more hoosier drs. I loved those tires. They are like 7lbs lighter a piece too so how do ya like that. Cant beat that for cutting weight on a tire.

I think you should step up to a 28" tire.

Probably 60 better with more sidewall.
I know it made a difference on my car.

Both tires are great in my opinion but I kinda like the Hoosier a little better.
