Default SOM z/28 build, ETP, 416cid, 4l80e....

Bought the car in 2010, with a rattle trap engine, burned up 4l60e, and faded interior.. But the body was in great shape, plus the color is what I've always wanted.

Only Pic I have of the car when I first bought it

Me and a couple buddies from the body shop I worked at painted it the factory color but turned out a little darker than the factory, but I actually think I like it better. It already had the 416ci built by Mike Lough Racing Engines. Ported l92 heads, l76 intake, tsp headers, 4l80e conversion with FTI 3800 converter, HSW nitrous plate, Strange 12 bolt, qa1's all the way around, BMR K-Member, upper and lower control arms, adj torque arm, adj panhard bar, and lower control arms.

I swapped the l76 for a ported l92 Vic Jr. and Fast 4150..

For some reason it decided it was going to turn a rocker sideways after a while so I pulled the engine out and started a new build lol.

New updates will be
Same 416ci short block, Callies crank, Probe 2618 alloy pistons, forged rods, that were in it. (10.5:1)
ETP ls7.40 heads
Proform black valve covers
KOOKS 2" headers with Burns Stainless race mufflers
Harland Sharpe Rockers
245/255 .67x/.67x 113lsa cam
GMPP ls7 single plane intake
FAST 4150
Moroso Oil pan, with pick up
Seimans 60lb injectors
Racetronix f99 fuel pump for now
4l80e built by deadhorse66 (One of my good friends and mechanic on tim99ws6's x275 car) Billet input, intermediate, and rollerized forward clutch hub with Rossler t-brake, and Moroso deep pan.
Travel limiters by AEI cnc
HVAC block off by AEI cnc Keeping heat.
Spohn Manual rack kit
Griffen Stand up Radiator
PA Racing Super Turbo K member
BMR Alt relocation
Adj Rear lca's
BMR Battery relocation
SJM Manufacturing ABS delete Kit
ALOT of weight reduction, with all the wire harnesses rewired and tucked. Cowl is gone, inner fender metal gone, everything that isn't used will be stripped. I'm sure I'm forgetting something lol..

Purpose of the car is a track car, but also a street car.. be able to drive it anywhere. Retaining heat, so I'll be able to play in the cold months. Build is already well on its way. I'm sure your wondering why the turbo k-member and stand up radiator.. Well, I had already been talking to Huron Speed about a turbo kit, and already ordered the k-member and then me and the ol lady split up, so there went my turbo fund.. It will be turbo'd, just be a year or so before I get it all together. Until then, it will just be sprayed until then.. Basically other than the fuel system it will be ready for the turbo. Be a smooth transaction to boost.

Now for more pics of the progress..

bending the plate for the cowl

I'll get a few more pics of it in a few. Cowl is almost all plated up. Hope to have it all done come tax return season. Should be a fun street car. Everything is being done right, and not doing a hack job on anything. Engine bay will be CLEAN with minimal wiring using the factory harness. Going to put the computer where the wiper motor was, fuse box under the dash, and run the wires through the cowling to the engine. I have paint left over from where I painted the car, so the engine bay will be painted the same color as the car and clear coated. Going to try to get it as close to 3,000lbs as I can. I weigh 160lbs so race weight should be pretty light for a street car lol.

My buddy Mitch who's doing all the metal work on the car fitting up the plate for the cowl

Almost done now

Just needs some seam sealer for the cowl and some glazing putty for the spots we welded up, and fitting for the Griffen Radiator and she'll be ready for some paint

It's been along time, but I thought an LS1 valley cover only fit on a LS1.

It was originally a lq4, sonic checked and bored to 4.070. It's still a gen III engine. Ran awesome with the hand ported l92 heads, but got a deal on these heads that I couldn't pass up.

I said , it's been along time. LOL.
Just sitting here, wandering why I had to put a LS2 cover on my LS3.
Forgot the early LQ4 & 9 were Gen III.
I think this is the first time I've seen a 416 out of a LQ4.

Lol yup, they have to be sonic tested to be sure the cylinder is thick enough before boring. Mike has built a few! Actually his old 438ci engine was a lq4 block.

The color was the whole reason I bought the car! I've had several combinations in the car from the stock engine, to a cam only 6.0, to a 416, now the same 416 with a lot better heads, a lot more cam, and a lot of weight reduction. It went 6.9 @ 97mph at 3550lbs on motor first time out. Going to try to get it to 3150lbs race weight and 6.5's on motor. Also going from 9.55:1 to 10.5:1.

Degone that's one of the nicest looking f-bodys I've seen! That paint and those wheels look awesome, I'd even rate that above my HOSS! If you don't mind me asking, what size/offset/tires are those front rts's?

Thank you for the compliments!! Front wheels are 17x5.5 with a 205/55-17 if I remember right, I'll have to look at the offset again..

Your welcome bud, not everyday do you see a car looking as good as yours, but yeah let me know what that offset is when you find it, I have darkstars for mine but don't really like how they stick out on the front a bit.

These are flush, fit perfect! I got them from Jim's racing tires.. I love them! I know they are starting to get over played on here, but where I'm from I'm the only one with them. Actually there's only 3 SOM cars where I live too lol

Seeing as they make an ls3/ls7 super victor now, might as well get rid of the gmpp thing and go with that manifold as it will make a boatload more power.
