I got a wild hair today b/c my sub went out again and I am tired of putting money in a sound system..SO..I pulled out my amp rack which has 2 amps and a cap on it and also pulled out the sub. I went ahead and took out the monsoon amp which only weighs about 4 lbs but hey thats 4 lbs right? All together that weighed 71 lbs. The amp rack went all the way across the back and the sub box was VERY heavy including that Kicker L7 that weighs in at about 15 lbs by itself! Anyways it actually raised the back of the car up giving me some more ground clearance (which I needed)! So if you have a serious sound system in your car...take it out and save some weight!

Don't forget to add struts to wallet mods, no upper control arm and a nice lightweight strut and small spring has to drop a good amount.

It's all unbolt stuff however if you pull out the blower motor in the firewall you'll need a plate to block off the hole, everything else is pretty straight forward, unbolt and remove stuff.
I am not sure but everything has to be 50 pounds maybe more when you pull the a/c pump, brackets, condenser in front of the radiator, all the hoses, the blower motor, the ducting under the dash.
Also if you pull the blower motor you won't have a window defroster which is a bitch.

discharge the system first. disconnect all of the lines going to your a/c stuff. the condenser is easy to take out. take your whole airbox off (4 bolts) and pull the condenser out. there are 5-6 bolts holding the a/c pump in. theres 3 bolts up top and 2or 3 at the bottom. then you can easily pull your ac pump bracket off of the block, thats a couple bolts as well. drop your sway bar (only 4 bolts holding the sway bar to the brackets) to make it easy on yourself when it comes to pulling the a/c pump out. the evaporator or accumulator is that lil aluminum can lookin' thing, take that out and id just leave the other part thats in the firewall its only a couple lbs and u can lose that elsewhere and save yourself the trouble! hope this helps u!

mini tubbing, I weighed everything I cut out to run 16" tub from fender lip, all of the metal and brackets were 49 pounds.
Went an additional inch so 17" tubs will weigh the rest and also weigh the metal I am putting back in.

What about the plastic bracing that holds the factory hinge and little rubber bump stop?
If you're running a pin on I would think you could cut those off as well but they don't look to be very much weight maybe 1-2 pounds for the 4?

SO far I am at 56.5 pounds of metal I cut out/removed doing my mini tub job and I might cut out all of the inner factory fender, I am sure that would be at least 5-8 more pounds easy.
I'll weigh everything before I weld in the new plates and weight the tubs after I cut them to fit.
I am guessing a 40 pound savings.

Frame horns???
Has anyone cut off their frame horns to save weight? The body shop was not able to salvage my drivers side frame horn. Anyone still have theirs and want to sell? Let me know asap, once I get this welded back on I can start installing body pieces. Thanks for the help guys!
