Default How many Drag strips/tracks in North Carolina and where?

Just wondering if I was to move to NC someday, where are all the drag strips located?

Just wondering, can't be too far from the local track

Not enough 1/4 miles. I think we have 2. But we do have a good amount of 1/8ths scattered about. What part were you thinking about moving to?

Crazyqwik, not sure where yet. Just something talked about after seeing a guy at works sister's home she built. After living here in S. FL, you get tired of the people and not being able to do what you want to when....like how many dogs you can have, cars in the driveway yada, yada.

And I am missing the seaons now.....maybe around the Charlotte area, or Ashville was mentioned too.

I'd like to be close to the heart of Nascar....like the Moorseville area or outside or something where I am gonna get some snow too so I can ski....and of course still want the 1/4 mile to run my car.

Got any ideas of areas that is close to the above mentioned?

My parents live in a small town roughly 40 miles NE of Charlotte. Rockingham and Darlington are fairly closeby (within 2 hours). Other than that, I believe everything around there is 1/8th mile (Wileksboro, Mooresville, Pageland).

Rockingham only runs 1/4mile on TNT nights, and for their trophy class on Sat. nights. Their normal bracket program is 1/8th mile...

Go here for a pretty complete track listing by state.

George, where do your parents live? I live outside a small town about 40-50 miles NE of Charlotte, just right up I-85.

I live about 25 miles south of Winston Salem. About 10 minutes from Richard Childress's race shop, so there is a lot of NASCAR activity here. RJ Reynolds has sponsered stuff in Winston Salem, I can get to Charlotte Motor Speedway in less than 50 minutes, Rockingham is an hour and 45 minutes away, Martinsville is just up in VA, Bristol is about 4 hours to the west I think (less than 5 hours), I've never been to Darlington or Richmond though. North Wilkesboro is less than 2 hours from here but they dont race there anymore

In 2 hours I'm in Boone at the ski slopes, in a little over 4 I'm at Myrtle Beach (thats what ppl tell me, I never go)

There's the 1/8th in Mooresville that the Charlotte ppl go to some, an 1/8th right outside Winston Salem (Farmington), an 1/8th between Greensboro and Burlington (Peidmont), and 1/8th somewhere near Raleigh (Dunn-Benson), then a 1/4 in Fayetville and a 1/4 in Rockingham right across from the oval. I think Coastal Planes is a 1/4 too but I dont know where that is. Rockingham has street car night every Friday from like the middle of March untill the end of December I think. I wish I lived closer to it

Just grab a map and start looking

Thanks guys, just wanting to know for the future, talked to the b/f about it....but it is a ways off seeing I have my folks here now and they are older and need me here right now.

We are gonna look into it. Both of us run the track w/ our T/A's so that is a must.

I just need to be in a country type setting w/ lots of property, as many dogs as I want and no neighbors to complain about what you do and don't do.

Florida is nice, but too many a$$holes and too many association rules to have to abide by.

They live in a small town called Locust. It's in Stanfield county. The biggest town right around there is Oakboro. We're talking really small town here. They moved out there ~2 years ago to get away from the madness in the immediate Charlotte area.

Drag racing content: Last time I went to visit, I took my car and went to Rockingham and raced

Are you planning to come up any next year with your car George? I'd love to see you make some passes. I'm sure some of the other NC area ppl would too.

Oakboro, yeah I kinda know where that is. Down not too far from Concord. Seems like a nice area/location.
