Default Bypass trans cooler

Anyone doing this? I thought they only thing to do is run a line from the inlet to the outlet. But I noticed a 3rd line towards the bottom of the radiator.

Can I just cap this or what's the best way to bypass the transmission?

To bypass your stock cooler you would just loop the hoses together.

Why ?

I've never heard of anyone "over cooling" a transmission.
I by-pass the radiator and run the biggest aftermarket cooler I can fit

Yeah, I'm lost on this one too.
I still use my radiator cooler and a B&M cooler.
Run the output line to the radiator, through the radiator to the B&M cooler and back to the tranny.

The thought process is that the stock cooler is limited due to hot coolant and heat soak could cool the transmission only so much. I ended up by passing mine and found longer life. I also ran a B&M cooler that allowed the fluid to get to a safe operating temp and then start the cooling process.

All I would say is do what you feel makes the most sense in how you use the car and ultimately its your $$$ if something goes wrong.

Also to note if you felt ambitious you could run a temp guage to see if it really mattered, something i never got a chance to do on my 4L60e

If its a track only car you dont need a cooler at all. Save the weight!

Unless if your running a Trans brake those sucker create tons of heat. What most do is a external unit with dedicated fan.

I have a solid input shaft and no cooler circuit in my trans with a trans brake and a 6200 converter. Thats why i said if its a track only car you dont need it. For the short amount of time its running by the time i get back to the pit it might hit 160* and thats running 8s after shutting it down at the 1/8th.
