Default Question about the 165R-15 Skinny tires

I'm about to change over to 15 x 8 Draglites with 275-50-15 Nittos in the rear & 15 x 3.5 Draglites in the front. The Nittos have a 26.1 Diam & 791 Rev/Mile rating. I'm told the 165-15 skinnies have a 25.4 diameter. There's a lot of you guys running this combo,so my question is; Does the difference in diameter throw the ABS light,& if so,does that mean the ABS is inoperative?

How are the skinnies on a daily driver? Stop OK? What about Potholes?

When I am running the 15x3.5 up front and 16x8 ET Streets if I go over about 60mph for about 1min then the "anti-lock inop" light comes on. It clears after the car is turned off and restarted.

I just drove my '02 A4 SS 70 miles to the track last wknd. equipped w/Centerline 15x4 Convo-Pro fronts w/165x15 metric radials in front w/swaybar links disconnected. 275-40x17 Nitto's on 17x9 painted '99 SS whls in back. Also running boxed lca's w/15lbs in right side airbag. Car handles poorly compared to stock setup--but you have to expect it. Stay away from the potholes--they'll destroy those frontrunners--wheels AND tires. It's not the hot setup for everydriving of these cars, actually rather dangerous. I go back to my stock 17x9 chrome 10 spoke setup, re-connect the swaybar, & re-install the stock length belt, which gives me the power steering back, as soon as I get home from the track. I only go once or twice a month... All I can say is "be careful" when running this type of setup on the street. Hope this helps. I gets the lights pretty quick with the 165's up front and the 26x11.5x16's.

I also get the low traction lights at the end of the track trying to slow down. Can feel the car trying to move around a little. Probably not the safest setup but for short runs down the track in a controlled enviroment their probably ok.

No lights on my car, either, but I sure don't enjoy driving the thing with my set-up---except for down the 1/4!! Now that's some fun! WJ. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

My lights (Inop Brake Light) came on for the first time at the track with skinnies on front and slicks on back last time at the track. Goes away after restart the vehicle. Funny thing, I run this car before this way and the lights never came on. Oh Well.!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks EWJ,that's encouraging.Sent you mail.

WJ99SS Please explain what you mean by "I sure don't enjoy driving the thing with my setup"
This is an expensive swap & I really want to mke the right choice the first time around.

Kent-- I would expect it to throw the light with that combo. The diam difference is quite a bit between those two tires.Surprised it hasn't happened before.

I'm also considering a 5 in Draglite with a 175/80/15 for the front.I know I'm in for a lot of grinding with this wheel but just want to make sure it will fit even with the grinding.Only one I see running it is Reckless.Anyone else tried the 5 in. draglite?
