Default It's 95 degrees and 90% humidity but I'm going to Midnight Madness anyway.

I haven't had a chance to run the car in a while but I think I'll take it out tonight. I think the yellow Cobra is coming out so we should have some fun. Man is it hot and humid...... I can assure you there won't be any records set tonight. I be lucky if the car even starts.LOL

I've been doing alot of work on the car (cam change, suspension etc.) hoping to get the car to sixty foot a little better. I'll be sure to post some times, good or bad when I get back.

By the way why didn't any of you Houston guys post some times from the LS1tech day at HRP?? HRP's clocks not work in the summertime???

PS That's Bama Dragway just west of Sumiton Alabama on Hwy 78. It's time slips no scoreboards. Gates open at 11pm races start at 12 and go till?????

Sounds like fun, I wish HRP was open late, it closes just as the temps start to drop.

PS, my best ET was in the summmer, a month ago . I'll set some newer bests soon!

With that kind of humidity, you may consider installing a dehumidifier just before the MAF. Have fun tonight w/ the Cobra, and let us know how it goes. I'm interested to see how the new setup works out for ya.

BTW, did Kristi and John get the SS into the 7's w/ the converter swap?

Tony - Summer didn't start until June 21st.

Doh!

Texas doesn't have a winter though, and its been in the 90s here since April. I'll still run some new bests this summer

Tony all I ask is why didn't you guys post any times??? I didn't ask about new best. I guess if you live by a timeslip you die by it.

Trevor she made it to the 8.20's but it was so humid when she crossed the finish line and let off the windshield would fog over.

I don't mind running in the heat & humidity. If you can make it run in the heat it will damn sure run good in cooler weather.

I think Pepper ran 11.0 in the sun, and I ran 11.10 in similar DA (through my exhaust). I guess he isn't as far ahead as I thought.

Sorry Joe, I wasn't at HRP last week with the other guys. I would have posted my times though, always do. I'm the dumbass HRP racer that seems to miss the entire cold weather season every year because my car isn't running when its cold LOL!

He didn't show up.... He played it safe and went to a car show in Pelham.

Man was it hot and humid. Density altitude was between 2400 and 2800 all night. I managed to get a spinning 7.31@ 95.02/ 1.58 60 ft and that was it. I need to get to Baton Rouge for some dyno time to get the pcm leaned out. Still with last night's weather and a starting line that was marginal at best I'm happy with a 7.31 on the new combo. I had a good time and got to see some old friends I hadn't seen in years.

Yeah, I got three 8.28s out of the car. I got to outrun a Z06 with a stupid driver, another Z28, and a Mustang. We feel like the stock cat-back is choking the car to death for one thing. We're doing an electric cut-out this week. Also, we forgot the MAF translator... the car seemed to be running very rich so leaning it out probably would have helped a lot.
For some reason, this converter just doesn't hit the tires as hard in this car as it did in the TA. But then again this car seemed to be a lot more pathetic on the bottom end than the TA was stock, anyway... I think the 3.73s will actually help this car whereas they did nothing for the TA We hope to have the gears in in a couple of weeks.

Oh yeah, you've got an easy .1 in a cutout. The stock catback is a big bottleneck. Are you sure you didn't get a "Friday car"? Ironically, my SS is a Friday car. Was it at least hitting 1.7x 60' times? I think you and John are doing pretty well for only having the car for a few weeks.

Kristi, what happened to the T/A? That car was too sweet, definitely unique.

Joe how much power does the new motor make? 7.3 seems a little on the slow side considering, don't you think?

1.7 short times!? I WISH! The best was 1.82 The car runs like a scalded dog (to use a Joe-ism) from 4000 rpm+ but the bottom end is just pathetic.

Jason and Tony- Yes, I got rid of the TA. For one thing, with John and I getting married in 39 days (if you were counting ), we don't need 2 LS1 cars on the insurance. We couldn't decide which to keep because we both want to go fast and with the TA being a convertible... I couldn't bring myself to put a roll cage in her and make her look like a rolling jungle gym. John's car was a 98 model and with him working at a Chevy dealership, a new car could have work done under warranty no matter how many mods, so we got rid of both of our cars and got the new SS. With all the stuff we have to sell from the other 2 cars, we have plenty of initial mod money for the new one. Looks like we're gonna need it!!!! LOL

Gears and custom tuning are next, after the cutout.

By the way, Tony, you ought to appreciate this: I met John, my fiance, at NFRA last year.

WOW! A 1.82 is definitely way off of what it should be. As you said, hopefully the gear swap will show a nice improvement. FWIW, I saw right at .3 from my Ed Wright custom tuning and 3.73's. The majority of the gain was from optimized shift points and the deletion of TQ mgt. My stock 1-2 shift was at 5,400 RPM! What's funny is now I don't drop below 5,700 on the shifts. LOL! Is your 1-2 shift really low, too? Like you, I saw next to no gain in the 60' from the steeper gears. They sure do help to make my 4,400 stall more streetable, though.

You are marrying John Ryan? He sold his Formula?

Congrats on the news Kristi! Is your fiance' a member here that we know? Not sure which John you are talking about.
