Less than a tenth away from the sixes? Looks like all you really need is a tailwind.

haha for sure. we had a 20mph headwind that day. my anti roll bar is rolling over that direction and steering me a tad. If I wouldnt have spun on that 1.09 pass It would have been just enough.
hopefully I can find another good track day this year. I have another converter to try. I need it just a tad bit tighter. lost 4 mph to the 1'8th on the same boost with the looser one.

Unfortunately nothing good. Between covid and the weather. I made it out to the track one time up north here. "final grudge day of the year" Needless to say it was filled with oil downs and breaks. So I made one pass and drove into a nice long wheelie until I lifted. Went a 4.6@158.5

Then I took the chance. Drove to kentucky for turkey bash. Weather was extremely hot on the testing day. Spun a couple passes trying really hard. Then went a 4.5@158 and another peddled wheelie at 4.6@157
Next day rained out.
Third day of the event was so col it took 4 hours to start, it was packed, I made the first pass and spun, second and final pass before it rained was another wheelie and 4.6x
I was trying to cram every bit of the 40 pounds of boost I had available. Unfortunately just out of time.
So Im making a few small changes. New gen 98mm and Ill try again in the spring.

Im real close on nailing the converter though. I upgraded to a bolt together ptc with the low stall cover. With a couple of the closest stators I can get.

the 15-45 low stall was too tight for me to flash and snug once it coupled down track around 6,650 rpm and 2.5% slip. the 15-0 standard cover was too loose with a 7,580 couple and 12% slip.

So Im going to come out with a 15-0 and low stall cover. Have a 15-40 on hand. With the data I have the 15-0 with the low stall option should effectively give me that nice starting line flash and just couple harder down track with less slip.
Excited to try it.

Ive been pretty intrigued by these since I first seen them. I tune a ton oe oem gm pcm's, quite a few megasquirt, quite a few holley, and still even a few hondata systems. Still havent tuned a fuel tech. Im kind of excited to learn something new.

Nice!! Curious why you're going with FuelTech, it's a bad *** engine management system for sure but you seemed to have your current ECU and tune figured out. I know FT also isn't a cheap set up to get into since everything is separate (ecm, injector driver, TCM if needed etc), buddy is building a twin turbo ls7 and went with FT but money is literally no object on that build. None the less, looking forward to the winter upgrades and ridding along!!

Honestly just because Ive never used it. Im curious if Ill love it. It seems awesome. Hardware is extremely nice. I guess just some hype and boredom as well. I am really only changing the converter and the turbo for 2021. I was like ****. What else am I going to do all winter. I enjoy wasting money and causing myself way more work than necessary i guess lol

But yea. Never used it before. I tune/build cars for a living and feel like I need to continue pushing myself and learning new things.

Makes perfect sense! If you're a tuner and builder it can only help to be versed in another management system. And your right, the hardware is super nice on the FT stuff, the wiring harness is right, haven't heard countless horror stories like holley where the wiring is pined wrong or connectors labeled way off. Cheers to wasting money and doing stuff for a third time!!

I have the FT550. It's unbelievable what it can do. I had a cam sensor sync issue on the initial install. Nathaniel from fuel tech logged into my laptop remotely from Australia and fixed it in 5 minutes( set the cmp to rising instead of falling) I started up the car and he went ahead set my fuel tables, rescaled the map and ignition timing for idle and driveability while it was running. First day out at the track everything worked with no issues. There is not a better engine management system on the market. Mostly because of the customer support. There is no need to go find and read forums like the Holley ECU because you can't get a hold of no one at Holley. Fueltech is always there for you. I do my tuning at night and it is daytime in Australia. That's where the 24 hour support comes from.

Ive heard a lot of good from them. The guys with diy autotune(ms3pro) were always there for me like that. Good group of guys.
I dislike holley a bit. I always get the run around on parts with them. A lot of chinses pieces but they do have a great interface and solid electronics hardware. harnesses are ehhh.

Im excited to use this. Ive never had my hands on one. seems like there are a lot of great features.

Your next build needs to be a twin 76mm LSX.

I end up racing in a bunch of stuff that has a single power adder rule. or small block single with a max of 98mm. If I could Id go right to a 110/116 from jose and have 2,800hp worth of turbo lol

These titan races are the best racing Ive ever seen or been involved with.

Those heads are bad ***. Several local guys here run them. He is a LS savant. There are a few around here getting 200 runs a season at 2000hp without issues. They just have him look em over at the end of the season and put new rings and bearings in.
