Cool to see people showing interest in the stock internal stuff again. I’ve thought about sticking a stock LS1 back in my Firehawk and making another run at the record.

Glad to see someone still around that remembers the fun!

You should absolutely do it to the Firehawk!

She already runs really good with the stuff you had done. Should be deep in the low 11s once you get it back on the track.

Thanks man. Yea that’s the hope. If I get everything done and good air I think I could clip high 10s, but am going to the track next week and hoping for mid to low 11s with what’s currently done.

That intake and ram air should make a huge difference in conjunction. Good 5 mph in identical air I would bet once the tune is optimized. The crazy thing I was thinking about is how many modern sports cars DONT run the numbers you already run. Just goes to show you how unoptimized most cars are these days.

“Mind the ounces and the pounds will take care of themselves.”

I bought an extra radio trim bezel and cut extra material off the back and then filled the holes with .5 carbon fiber.

Stock bezel: 1lb .31oz
Lightweight bezel: 8.7oz
Lost: 7.61oz

Obviously could have lost more by just removing it altogether, but I have visual standards and don’t want it to “look gutted”

I also removed the radio and HVAC controls of course.

Radio: 4lbs 5.3oz
HVAC controls: 12.3oz
Total: 5lbs 1.6oz

Removed stock seats and installed Kirkey on Racecraft brackets.

Stock leather/power drivers seat: 40.4lbs
Passenger leather/manual seat: 31.4lbs
Racecraft bracket: 7lbs
17in Jegs black “Kirkey” replica seat: 13lbs
Passenger bottom seatbelt: 8oz

Lost: 52.4lbs

**Note: the new style Racecraft brackets seem very over built and 7lbs. I plan to either trim them up or to trade out for an old style set that seem much more streamlined. I didn’t realize there was a difference until I was looks at old install pics to compare. I think there’s also weight that could be removed from the seat without messing with integrity

This is the difference in Racecraft brackets I noticed. If anyone has some of the old design around I’ll take them off your hands

Other things I’m thinking about/researching LMK if you have input/experience:

-Innovators West 10% underdrive pulley. Seems to be significantly lighter/superior to SLP pulley

-Improved racing Crank scraper

-Polished ring and pinion Mikronite etc

So I dynoed the car and decently happy with it. Still some loose ends to tie up power wise, but it made 364rwhp through unlocked converter and heavy street wheels (54lbs each) which seems healthy. Dynojet SAE not a happy dyno lol

Also proved the vacuum pump concept on a stock internal car. It picked up a tad over 11rwhp over baseline with GZ Motorsports pump and set at roughly 10in on back to back runs just swapping the belt onto the pump no other changes.

we couldn’t get a clean tq number with the converter unlocked.
