Question Opinions please help S&W racecars or Wolfe Cages

I am looking for a 10 point chromoly cage to fit in a 1998 Camaro. Wolfe sells their chromoly kit already jig notched for about $900.00. However, S&W sells the same kit for $450.00 . Can anyone tell me why the big difference in price?

Is there any additional modding needed to install either kit? Does anyone know the difference between fitment and quality of each kit compared to one another?

I have tried searching for these questions on the board, but didn't really find sufficient information to make my decision. I do know that $450.00 is really tempting as long as I don't have to spend much more in installing the cage compared to installing the Wolfe since they claim a hold and weld installation.

Your help is greatly appreciated

Every Wolfe cage I've ever seen has been an excellent looking cage. The fitment has been right on. Nothing but good experiences.

Heres a ttt for ya. I have been wondering the same thing-trying to decide between the Wolfe, S&w, or local professional for an 8 point. Anybody with the S&w? Pics?

Wolfe cage is truly a hold and weld..no fitment issues or recutting on the jig notched option...

Hopefully someone with S&W experience will jump in.

I used the Ch. Wolfe and did not have to cut or modify any of the tubing.
The install process is a pain anyway, so I was super pleased that it was NOT compounded by having any problems with the product. 2 thumbs up.

I used S & W for the roll bars in both of my Stockers. My Firebird has mild steel and the Camaro is chrome moly. The quality is very good.

Another extremely happy Wolfe customer. 5 point CM rollbar that fits like a glove.

S&W stuff is good if you are getting a professional installer to do the cage for you.

Gizmo was there any additional notching or bending of the tubing you had to do, in order for the cage to fit?

If you want the most out of your rear bars, you should tie them into the area of the rear shocks. I bend the plates so that they actually strengthen the area. Remember that the rollbar is as important to chassis tuning as it is to safety. I see a lot of rollbars/cages on here that sit the plates flat above the gas tank on the weakest area.
If you are doing your own fitting you can use a hack saw or porta-band and a grinder. I always try for a really tight fit, so that the bars are preloaded a little.
I also bend the door bars to go around the armrests (S & W will do that for you if you ask).
I would also put in a cage only if you need one. If you don't plan on running into the nines it is crazy to add the weight over the front end. A roll bar is plenty.

Good Luck!

Here are a few pics of my wolfe. You can save on the s&w but most liely you are going to pay more for the install because of time it takes.
Before being cleaned up with new carpet and paint.
