Now, please don't shoot me, however, this was not the first 9 second pass in Stock Eliminator. In April of 2001, Robert Pond went 9.90 @ 135.77 in an A/S 67 Fairlane. I believe he made the first 9 second pass some time earlier than that, but I cannot confirm, so I'll only pass along that which I can verify: http://www.nhra.com/stats/stk_record.html

Also, on the same day, Joe Aluise went 9.93 133.69 in a 1963 Plymouth Belvedere.

Again, not trying to take anything away from such an awesome feat...certainly a 9.9x in S/Eliminator with a SMALL BLOCK is extraordinary.

Fantastic numbers though...
Those are fantastic numbers, but I think we can all agree that the heads aren't exactly stock on most stock eliminator cars. Sure, they look stock. They have the right CC's but lets be real that they get worked by Wilson or Brezenski or one of the "undercover" porting places...

You can get as many to agree as you like, but his heads have not been 'messed with'.... at least not yet. Since the combination started out with a soft hp factor, there has not been a need to go there yet. That may change in the future (2-5 yrs.) but right now, it just isn't necessary.
* disclaimer * - that's not to say that some others aren't messing with their heads. But for Al's motor, they are definitely untouched.
