How often do you change your plugs & oil on a drag car?
I just recently changed the oil in the car from the cam swap and was wondering how often you changed your oil with a drag car. Also, I probably have 10-15k miles on the plugs and planned on replacing them soon. How often do they need to be changed on a drag car? Thanks.

Well the oil is fresh, so it shouldnt be changed anytime soon. I dont drive the car very much and it hasnt been to the track in a few months. I use Royal Purple, do I need to change it that often on a drag car compared to regular oil? I know in a regular car, its 3-4k miles on regular oil and 5-7 on Royal Purple, so I figured there had to be some kind of range for higher grade of oil. On the plugs, again I probably have 10-15k on them right now, I'm sure its time to change them because they have probably 40 passes on them. What do you think?

For your application Jeremy you really shouldn't need to change the plugs that often. It's always nice to pull them every 10 - 15 passes and make sure something hasn't gone wrong.
And the more you beat on your engine, the more often the oil needs to be changed.

My old N2O BBC with dry Sump I would change the plugs after EVERY n2o pass. So pretty much every pass was on a new set of plugs. I would do this for many reasons. One is from the advice of Jeff Prock, you cant read a get a good read on what happened on that pass if you have signs of a past run on them also. Another reason is when you break down what the cost per run is on a high dollar race motor, whats another 15.00 in n2o race plugs?
As for oil, after every race weekend.

Wow, a lot more often than expected. I've got a cam only car, so I dont think I should change as often as many of you are. I'm sure my plugs are about ready to be changed. My oil is fresh, so what do you think I should change my oil and plugs at since none of you have a setup like mine? All of yours are way more serious. Thanks.

My H/C set up, I changed my RP every 2 weekends if I didn't go to the track or I'd change it after every track trip. Plugs, I'd check every Friday night. I'm paranoid on maintence. It also keeps me very in touch w/the way my motor is running.

My NOS motor the oil gets changed every 10 passes or every weekend which ever is first. I also cut the oil filter open every time and see whats inside. Plugs get changed every pass. I also run Royal Purple.
My deal is if you cant afford oil, filter and plugs you shouldnt be racing.
