Question door bars!!! cant get them!

I was able to get the rear bolt out with a 15mm open end wrench, but i cant get the 10mm out from the front. the only thing i can get in there is the open end of the wrench. it spun right off it.

im going to by a minny breaker bar to try it. (i have one but cant find it)
any other tips? what a pain in the ***. lol

I actually removed the bolts in the door jam that hold the door bar brackets and that allowed me to raise the bar about 3/4" to get a ground down 10mm socket in there.

FWIW, I have seen several posts about how simple removing the door bars is, but mine were a MAJOR PITA... I guess GM has wide tolerences on the brackets

I have a 10mm socket cut down and welded to a piece of old screwdriver. Works killer.

I too, had a weird 10mm wrench that worked well on it but I also undid the the mounting plate of the door sides and let it slide down.
Just make sure you mark where your hinge plates are before you undo them.

A guy who posted on this before gave out that advice, otherwise you'll be fishing around to get the alignment back.

Brad, if you can't break them loose with a 10mm ratcheting wrench, get out the Dremel and cut out the front bracket. It's a hell of alot quicker than dicking around with the front bolts. Just put a metal plate against the door skin, esspecially if you've already pounded a few.

i did my passenger side one early this summer, haven't gotten to teh drivers side yet lol. camaros are a huge pain in the ***, TA's are easier, my buddy had his done on his TA real quick just using a gear wrench, door has gotta be shaped different.

i put a ground down 10MM on a 1/4" breaker bar to get at the front ones, the rear one I used a ground down 15mm or whatever it is back there. took a lot of ******* around but it all worked.

for the rear i used a 15mm socket i cut in half. and for the 10mm in the front i made a 1" hole in the fron of the door jam and got it thru that hole from the opposite side that you guys are getting it from. I't's a LOT easier.

i got them out, but what a pain. lol
i used the ground socket, and a 1/4 breaker bar, a gear wrench, my fingers, lol
it was a pain, but with everything, door bars, plastic, insulation off the door, it was 16 pounds.
not bad.

so im down about 40 pounds from last time i raced.
8 for wiper motor ect, 20 for rear bumper suport, and 16 for door bars ect.

im almost out of easy weight reduction. lol
that should put me at 3300 even with driver

Damn man, all that for 16lbs...I would expect a lot more for the trouble. I might stay a middle weight @ my current 3425 w/ driver (still waiting the K member/A arms and some more carpet pad removal though).

I took mine out with just a box end wrench after bending it to the right angle what a pain was the sticking stuff on the front of the bar. only spent about a hour on each door just drilled a hole at the bottom to remove bar that way if I take the cage out or sell it i can reinstall it.
