Who sent in Hot Rod Pump Gas Drags entry form?
Supposed to announce on 2.13.06.
Here are the rules:
* Allowed Vehicles: The only vehicles considered for the Pump Gas Drags(TM) are four-wheeled cars, trucks, and SUVs. They may be of domestic or import manufacture. No dragsters, buggies, or flip-up or lift-off bodies allowed. The only open-wheeled vehicles allowed are '34-and-older domestic vehicles and replicas thereof. Competitors are required to attend the event with the same vehicle in the same basic configuration it was in when the application was presented to HOT ROD for consideration.
* Street Equipment: All competitors must have current street registration, a legal rear license plate with current registration decal, current proof of insurance, and a current driver's license. No dealer or manufacturer plates allowed. The VIN on the car must match the VIN on all associated paperwork. The following are required: working headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, and horn, and a safety-glass windshield.
* Safety: Competitors must meet NHRA safety requirements for the quarter-mile speed and/or e.t. the vehicle is capable of. You will not be invited to the Pump Gas Drags(TM) if your vehicle clearly does not meet safety rules, i.e., no rollbar or rollcage. NHRA safety rules will be enforced by the Memphis Motorsports Park tech inspector.
* Engine: The engine must be a gasoline four-stroke piston or rotary type. Only one engine may be used. The engine must be self-starting, unassisted by a person other than the driver.
* Exhaust: Mufflers are required; the exhaust system must extend past the rear edge of the rearmost side door. All exhaust gases released from the engine must pass through mufflers at all times. Cars may not be uncorked in any way during competition.
* Tires: The entire competition must be run on one set of four tires. The drive tires must be DOT slicks with a sidewall designation no greater than 30 inches tall or 12.50 inches wide (no "W" tires allowed), or any DOT drag radial.
* Wheelie Bars: Prohibited.
* Interior: The following items are required: carpet covering the full floor and tunnel ahead of the rear edge of the front seats; a complete headliner; upholstered door panels; a full OE dashboard frame; upholstered driver and passenger seats in stock locations; and a steering column in the conventional location. The driver must be able to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted.
* Graphics and Decals: Vehicles in competition may not have any lettering or sponsorship decals on any portion of the car with the exception of the driver's name on the side glass and mandatory event-sponsor decals and windshield banners that may be issued during tech. This will be strictly enforced. Use of a HOT ROD magazine front license plate issued during tech inspection is strongly encouraged.
* Gasoline: The only fuel allowed during competition is the Rockett Brand-spec gasoline that will be supplied. This is a 93.6-octane fuel with 3.6 percent oxygen. Cars are to be delivered to tech inspection with empty gas tanks and fuel lines; it is mandatory that fuel systems be fitted with a drain hose or petcock to easily verify that the entire system is empty. Any tools required to verify that the entire fuel system is empty must be provided by the racers during tech inspection. Fuel systems including return lines may be required to be flushed with Rockett Brand gas at the race director's discretion. Once empty, each car will be supplied a maximum of 10 gallons of Rockett Brand spec gas and the fuel tanks will be sealed. Any competitor caught adding fuel, or with a supplemental fuel system, or with a broken seal will be disqualified. Octane boosters or fuel additives of any kind are not allowed. Injection into the engine of any substance other than Rockett Brand-spec gasoline, water, and nitrous oxide is not allowed. Alcohol injection is not allowed. A fuel check of the winning cars will be required. The Official Event
Procedure
* During registration, each entry must declare one driver and, optionally, one passenger. Drivers and passengers will receive unique wristbands.
* Tech inspection will occur at Comp Cams beginning around 8 a.m. on Friday, May 12th, and will continue until all the invited race cars are inspected and fueled. If fewer than 50 invited racers are present, then alternates will be accepted starting with number 1 and progressing to number 10. Once tech'd and fueled, each car will be placed in an impound area and may not be worked on until after arrival at the dragstrip.
* A mandatory drivers' meeting will be held in the Comp Cams parking lot prior to departure for Memphis Motorsports Park.
* The drive to the track from Comp Cams will be 20 to 25 miles in stop-and-go traffic. The route map will not be disclosed until immediately prior to departure for Memphis Motorsports Park. There will be spotters and checkpoints along the route. Competitors will be disqualified for not following the required route, for missing a checkpoint, for pulling over for any reason other than an official checkpoint, for shutting off the engine, for adding gas in any way, for passing the Comp Cams lead vehicle, or for falling behind the chase vehicle for any reason.
* Only official wrist-banded drivers and passengers may ride in the car to the track. The driver during the on-road competition may be different than the driver at the track.
* Chase vehicle or support vehicles of any kind may not accompany the competing vehicles during the drive to the track or assist the competing vehicles while at the track.
* Upon arrival at Memphis Motorsports Park, competitors will be directed into the staging lanes and held there for a cool-down period of no less than 30 minutes from when the lead vehicle arrives. During this time, toolboxes and parts must be unloaded from the vehicles.
* Only wrist-banded drivers and passengers may work on or around the vehicles at the dragstrip. Competitors may help each other.
* After the cool-down period, each competitor will make a single qualifying pass. Qualifying passes will be bye runs and lane choice is open unless overridden by the race director. The e.t. for the qualifying passes will not be posted on the scoreboards and will not be announced over the PA system. After qualifying, cars will return to a specified area in the pits where no other vehicles are allowed.
* The quickest 32 cars will be placed into a Pro Ladder (1 races 17, 2 races 18, an so on) and will compete on a 0.400-second Pro Tree through five rounds of heads-up competition. Lane choice goes to the top qualifier.
* Competitors who do not appear in lanes when called may be disqualified. Barring delays due to equipment, oildowns, and other unforeseen circumstances, we'll be running eliminations pretty quickly. Be prepared to hot lap.
* During both qualifying and eliminations, crew members and others may not help stage the car and must remain behind the burnout box.
* After the first two rounds of eliminations, the cars that are proceeding into the third round will be topped off with up to 5 gallons of Rockett Brand-spec fuel.
* HOT ROD's Top 10 will be based on the overall winner plus the 7 cars eliminated in rounds three, four, and five, plus the two quickest and fastest cars eliminated in the second round.

From: Gainesville, Florida # of drag strips runs: ?!?!?
I gave up entering after the last 2 years. I figure not many 10 second cars will be on the list, but the DNF list will continue to grow....
Good luck to those that get the acceptance!

Can't believe there is only 2 people on this site that applied. I'm guessing most of the faster guys on here are running race gas?
We should find out this week who is invited to the event.
PSJ - Did you apply?

If you're on the list, expect an official email from us in a few days. Hopefully before the end of the week. But now might be a good time to reread the rules just to make sure you can be ready.
The 50 regular invitees are in no pareticular order, but the alternates are ranked in the order in which they will be accepted.
