LS1 Drag Racing Tool Box
Okay i want to throw together a tool box for the track that pretty much covers the majority of what is needed for a ls1 car.. I am to lazy to take everything i own.. So if i was to make a so called LS1 tool box, what would you place in it? As people offer suggestions.. I will consolidate everything into this thread.. Keep in mind,it needs to be practicle.. Thanks for your help..

I think it depends on your setup, what the car runs, how long you are going to be at the track, if it is a TnT session or Bracket Race, etc ...
For example ...
2001 Camaro SS: TnT
9/16" Wrench (2x) for cutout
1/2" Wrench and socket for front sway bar
Jack
Lug Wrench for swapping drag tires (if long distance)
1998 Camaro Z28: Bracket Racing
All my tools, if something breaks I need to fix it before the next round
Generator
Air Compressor
Extra fuel
Extra water ... fluids
etc ...
You should pack tools for things you know or expect to fail. Chances are though what you did not expect to fail, will fail and you won't have the tools to fix it.
For example ...

I used to pack about half the metric tools I owned plus anything I needed to service my nitrous system, and a tire pressure gauge. I also pack anything I'd need to fix any common electrical problems. I got sick of repacking tools so I just went to Sears and picked up one of their 190 peice sets and added some additional things to it (case fits perfect in the spare tire well). I would also highly reccomend packing a set of metric gear wrenches. And I found a ratchet tie down or two can come in handy to get your car back up and running. lol.

I use the tool set like GM uses only Husky. Also the gear wrenches. And then a worked up spark plug wrench, definate must for nitrous use, and as stated all the nitrous line wrenches. A tire pressure gauge, some red loktite, dielectric grease are in the bag as well. I have most all tools in a tool bag, available from Crafstman, Husky etc...they fit or mold to fit where ever and keeps everything in one spot. I actually take a lot of stuff to the track, compression tester, I had a fuel pressure test gauge set but someone felt they needed more than I did.

don't forget a big enough wrench to be able to adjust pinion angle on your torque arm... usually a big adjustable gets it done..... probably shouldn't forget the gauge to find pinion angle as well......
