Default Air Bag replacement Steering Wheel cover?

I am going to remove both air bag and wanted to keep my stock steering wheel.
Does anyone make a replacement air bag cover for a TA steering wheel?
Or is there some way to remove the bag without and reinstall the cover?

Don't think anyone makes a cover. To tell you the truth, just get an aftermarket wheel. Drive it around with one for a few weeks and the stock wheel feels like it came out of a schoolbus. I tried to see if it was possible on my Camaro, but I had no luck. i am super pleased with my Sparco wheel though. Its small, fat rim, looks sick.

Show me a PIC of your wheel?

Is the Sparco wheel light weight then the stock wheel.

Ignore the bright red, love it or hate it. You can see the wheel is fat, and looks sharp, I will be putting an all black one in the SS.

Pretty much unplugged the old one and took it off. Put on the aftermarket hub and wheel and was done. Easy.

Or zipties through the holes. Know at least one guy doing that.

I decided to preserve the ability to put my stock wheel with airbag back on, so I just got a Grant model that I liked and am happy with the decision.

I installed a Grant GT wheel as well. Its a chore with a small diameter steering wheel and no power steering but I live with it.

What adapter/hub part # did you use with your Grant? Also, anyone know if it's legal to remove your airbag on a street car in Texas?

Thanks,
Spencer

Good luck with any insurance claims if your ever in a serious accident with personal injuries and either insurance agent discovers you removed a major safety item like an air bag.

Just a heads up that doing such isn't the smartest thing in the world for regularly driven street vehicles.

It was the recommended kit for that steering wheel. I cannot remember the part number. I *might* still have the box, but it would be at home and I'm at work.

I don't know if it's legal or not, but I'll side with the guy who doesn't like it on a regularly driven car. I bet some insurance adjusters would try to make an issue of it. My '94 sees very little street mileage. Maybe a once a week drive to the local street meet car show. Other than that, it's making passes at the track, where my insurance policy bluntly says that coverage is null and void. And again, I went to an aftermarket wheel so that I could quickly and easily re-install the stock wheel AND airbag. Didn't want to drill out the airbag rivets, etc. as I wanted to preserve the ability to go back to having an airbag.

Mine is the same way - it's NOT a daily driver, it's my weekend toy. Was curious on the adapter because I couldn't find it on Grant's site.

Thanks,
Spencer

Mine isn't my daily either. I plan on trying to adapt a new 3 spoke Vette wheel with airbag to the SS, because that car sees street time. The 94 will be track only when its done. I just haven't heard of anyone even trying to adapt a different factory airbag wheel to another car. So I will probably be the guinea pig. Problem is even if you get it connected how do you know the airbag will work? Swapping the wheel is easy but will the airbag deploy in an accident?

I would hope that someone taking an airbag out would have a roll bar/cage in instead with a five point harness. I couldn't imagine not doing that.

Do any aftermarket steering wheels retain the horn?
