Custom radiator, front mount fuel cell pics
Since I had some free time this past weekend, I decided to finish up the front end work on my car. I have a relative with a mandrel pipe bender that we used to bend the pipes. I also used a tubing notcher so that way all the pipes fit together nicely. I didnt fully weld all the pipes together, but they are tacked. Once I remove the whole front piece, I will grind down most of my welds and then it will be Tig welded.
As for parts, I used an RCI 4 gallon fuel cell, 24x19 2 core aluminum radiator, Flexalite 2500 cfm fan, Permacool trans cooler with -6an fittings, and a 900 cfm fan. All I have left to do is fabricate a mount for my Magnafuel EFI pump, and then get a wiring harness made while its all together.
Most of the welds look like crap, but I am still learning how to properly weld. The welds will be ground back down and it will be Tig welded by a professional.
By the way, this was all designed and built my myself.

As for being NHRA legal, I didnt even realize it was. I just built it the way I thought it should be and this was the way it came out.
I will just leave the welds I have and have a friend of mine finish up the welding on it. That way I stay legal.

Listen to the man, DO NOT grind anything. We also tack a lot of stuff with the mig 1st. Then Tig when finished. 2-3 tacks should hold just about anything, then when you're happy with everything have it finished. Great job, good luck with the rest of project.

?? for the chassis expert. It bothered me all day. I saw a couple of joints.
Don't you have to sleeve the joint, anytime you extend a tube like he did??
I remember a Pro-Mod guy who switched to a hemi. He needed to pull the heads off while in the car. So he curved out his tubes from the strut to the cage.
Just asking.

I just noticed that Mr Dragster. Yes you have to sleeve all joints with either a slug in side or a clamshell on the out side.

The one on the front bumper bar was actually too long, and I only needed to take out a 1/4". I cut it, inserted a sleeve and tacked it back up.
I did the same thing for the hoop by the fuel cell. The mandrel bender I used wasnt able to make those 2 tight bends very easily in one piece of pipe.
I knew about the sleeve thing before, have to do this to be legal like Madman said

Excellent, we don't need anybody getting hurt.
Even us old blind guys can help once in awhile, it would have sucked big time if you didn't know and failed getting your tag and I or someone didn't mention it.
Like I said, good luck with the rest of your project.
