Default Buy SFC or dont waste the money?

I know this has been debated for a long time, but i did a search and there is not too much info. regarding drag racing with SFC's. I am trying to keep my car as light as possible so if i dont need them i would rather not, but at the same time if installing SFC's is going to prevent the body from flexing on hard launches then i would not mind spending the money and adding the weight. What do you guys think? All you 10sec f-body owners what are your opinions, has not installing SFC's affected your cars body or frame?

If your 10's, you got a 6 point or better in the car, thats stiff enough. I would still put a pair in the car, BMR makes a nice piece.

D,

You saw how it stiffened by car...... jack up the rear of the car and the front comes up too.....

i did notice the car was even better after the Cage tied everything togeather.....

You gunna do a 5 point rollbar??? with a swing-out up front???

If you want to stay as light as possible and you are running fast enough that you need a cage..skip the SFCs. The cage does the job and the SFCs would just be added weight. Just my opinion!

SFC'S are the foundation to every great suspension set-up...I don't do a car without doing sfc's first..just my opinion

Without the SFC's you won't have much of a foundation for your main hoop on a cage, I'd be scared of that.

Do the SFC's, cheap and not that heavy

My nice and tight squeak free SS turned into a rattle trap after a couple hard bottle launches without SFC's. Then I bought them, most of the damage was done but it at least stopped it there. Definately get them.

If you're worried about weight get the wolfe weld-ins. They are moly and only weighed 13 lbs total on my car. That's pretty damn light compared to a lot of other companies offerings. I think most others are around 25 lbs.

Do the SFC they are not a waste of money, they make them for a reason look at a car that is raced without them and there 1/4 pannels are all wavy.

I got mine from performance auto fab, they were custom bent CM and weighed in at 10 # total. Too bad your in TX because he doesn't produce then for shipping yet and only does then right on the car...

But for your main question I am not in the 10"s yet and needed stiffening because many years of drag racing my bird it was soo out of whack that the last time I was at the track the door popped open on launch...

Go with the Wolfe's or the S&W's. +/- same design and either company will do them in moly.

If you are running 10s, you can't make the car stiff enough. My buddy has sfc's & a 6 pt & his sheet metal is still wrinkling from 1.45 60' launches.

get a good set of the diamond together type sfc's... you won't regret it when your car looks strait after a few years of racing it.

I put slp frame connectors on my car at 3000 miles and am glad I did. 6 pt in the car now and it feels alot stiffer then it did from the limited driving I have done since the bar was put in.

Wahusker, where is the guy's rollbar mounted that has wrinkles forming? My chassis guy put mine all the way in the back next to the t top area because he said putting it that far back will stop that from happening..... I'm intrested to see what the guy you know is running... see how his rollbar is put in and where it mounts, mainly to see if there's any truth in what I was told about the mounting points.

the weight of a subframe vs the added chassis strenth, is not even a debate. Even if you add 50 lbs you're still better off in the long run
