Default guys I need some help

I'm trying to start my car up and can't get any fire.

I have the msd 6010 box and a carb now with no spark. I have tried another msd box,a new crank sensor, and a new harness, nothing is working.

I have an excellent ground to the battery and I even took the msd box to the battery and tried that still nothing.

I have a map sensor signal ,12 volts and timing control that is all working I just can not get any cranking rpm,so basically no spark or crank signal. I have tried everything I can think of I'm lost.

Could I have possibly lost my crank signal from sitting all winter Its sounds stupid ,but everything is leading to that.

Please help me I wanna here this thing on alcohol

Have you tried to disconnect the tach. If the tach is shorted it will kill the ignition signal.

Are you using the factory crank sensor, or an aftermarket/external one? Will that box work with the factory crank sensor, or does it require an external magnetic one like an MSD crank trigger, something like that?

If all fails, buy a distributor and that new front cover thing from GM to hold it..

The bad part is anyone not experienced will think you got a ford engine there

http://www.msdignition.com/forum/

They are pretty good at answering questions fairly quick.

Wish I could help you but I never messed with one of those MSD LS1 boxes..

edit: Just seen you posted on there already

Looks simple enough, until it doesnt work

I guess you could check the +/- 12v on the cam and crank sensor plugs and make sure they are wired right. Also make sure the ign power wire you are using doesnt shut off when you are cranking

Maybe some how the box took a ****. I had a 6462(6BTM) on my old Formula same thing, I sent it back. I was told to disconnect the box and run the stock ignition........MSD has a 1% failure rate (Tech Line told me that years ago).

i put an MSD box on an LT1 vette, and i couldnt get it to start. I ended up checking the dials on the side, and i set the cylinders to 8, which i found out was a saftey setting that gave no spark. Corrected that and it started like a champ.

dont know if they LS1 box is the same, but it worked for me

Yeah are you sure its not set to 4 cylinders or something? Are you sure the factory crank sensor is still working?

I had this happen to me. I had the crank sensor pluged into the cam sensor, so when i tested it with the scanner i was reading no codes. Its a dumb mistake but it took me half a day to figure it out

Thanks guys for all the info.

As far as the 8 cyl 4 cyl setting I think its only set to 8 cyl and you can't change it.

I have tried another msd box too this thing is killing me

sounds like it's something thats just too simple.

Make sure that the reluctor wheel is what you think it is.

MSD has 2 diffrent boxes to drive the coils. ( which you un-doubtedly allready know)

I'm pretty sure that one is LS1 (24x) specific

and the other one is LS2 (58x) specific.

You might double check the reluctor wheel and verify this. If you had a 58X wheel on a 6010 box, it's not likley to fire.

Whatever the case may be, good luck with it, and let us know how it turns out.
