Before I bought a 24' enclosed, I had an H&H Speedloader MX. Had a full wood deck on it and the wood had a lifetime warranty. It was about $1700 new 6 years ago. I think they're a bit over $2k now. With my car being lowered it would scrape the nose barely, so I cut 4 pieces of 2x12 about 2' long and stacked 2 in front of each tire right at the start of the ramp. That gets the front wheels up 3" higher before they hit the trailer deck and you'll have plenty of room for the nose to clear.

I used to tow my 28ft with my 05 HD2500 with the 6.0 motor, it did ok,struggled on hills. My HD2500 Duramax tows the 28ft like nothings behind it.

I towed my 26' trailer with a 1500HD 6.0L/4L80 pickup to bowling green and back (220 miles each way) one time to try it and it was a no-go for me. Lot of big grades around here, if I lived 50 miles from the track and it was relatively flat I would do a gasser, way less hassle then a diesel. An 8.1/allison tows well though, if you can take the 7-8mpg. I ended up with a 2500HD dmax short bed crew cab, not a bad everyday cruiser and can pull a house..

Just MHO after using bost
They are both the same design. Sloan designed the Tx roll back and they "borrowed" his design.

I can second this. We towed by dads 28 ft. enclosed with a 3,000 pound car, 4 wheeler, generator, tools etc to West Virginia and back (2 hours) and you really did never notice the trailer.

Actually as I stated I used both alot last year. The Sloan was not as user friendly IMHO. They are 'Simular' in design but IMHO the TX RB was easier to use and also as stated had a different deck locking setup I liked better and towed better. I towed them both with three different trucks. This helped me under stand what I wanted. IF I get an Open Trailer it will be the TX RB even though I can get the Sloan Slider Local(washington state).

Since then I have bought a 03 D/A CCSB and I am looking at 28ft trailers. I still may get the TX RB due to its easy use for Customer pick up and delivery

If you get a 3/4 ton with a GAS burner and a MANUAL trans you can pull plenty of weight.. We have an older model crew cab chevy dually (84 model i think) with a 454 and a 5spd with granny and 4.10 gears. We pull a 32ft tri-axle enclosed with a ProMod, 4wheeler, tools, bottles, etc etc and you can pull hills in 5th gear most of the time..

Out of curiosity, what does that d-max pickup get for mileage around town and on the highway with and without the trailer? I'm gonna tade my rcsb 1500 ram in for a 3/4 ton 2wd crew cab job hopefully in about a year to a year and a half... gas mileage with the diesel is something I can't get a real strait answer on.

Yeah it's no biggie. I know someone who had like a '96 Chevy Dually and pulled a 32 ft. with a 3000 pound car, jr dragster, golf cart and loaded cabinets with no problem.

Our 2500 pulls our '30 great, just that gas mileage obviously is terrible.

I just looked at trailers today, paying close attention to the height after reading you post. I found a local company LOE Trailers that designed theirs for this reason. They have a full deck and and open center which the decking is below the frame thus lowering the height. The full deck one also was redesigned with the Dove tail lengtened to 4 feet with a lower angle. I think that is the one i want. I think they may be on the web.

Hemi Megacab here... I have been told it can pull 10,000lbs easy.. but I cant miss any gas station...

I am interested in a 28' enclosed, but I don't want to take any chances with the truck.. going diesel is not an option just yet...

My '05 LLY D-max crew cab gets about 15-16mpg around town and 18-19hwy. Towing a 24' 7000# trailer usually nets 10mpg. Not nearly as good as I'd hoped but it has ALL the power you'd ever want for towing.

I get 20mpg on the highway at 70mph (07 LBZ dmax), 10-13mpg towing @ 65-70mph. Around town is around 14mpg, same as my old gas truck. Diesel is more expensive then regular gas though. But there is a crapload of hills around here and it would just kill the gas mileage with the gasser.

But honestly, while its 'cool' to have a diesel they require more maintenance, PITA to find fuel sometimes and you are paying a huge premium to get a diesel to begin with. If I didnt live in the mountains I would be using a gas truck. I used to tow a 42' enclosed with a 454 gas dually (manual trans) and thay did fine, except it got like 4-5mpg lol.

My cummins (2004 Dodge 3500 6x6 6 speed) gets about 17 in town and around 20 freeway. Gets 15-17 trailering. When I had a programmer on it, it got even better mileage. The 2 piece driveshaft didn't like the extra power though. So, we took the programmer back off.

It tows o.k., for the limited trips I will take. Worst one this year will be form CT to MIR for the pinks allout shoot in june.
