Open Trailers, what are you using hassle free?
Well I am going to break down and buy a trailer this year since I have had to run a circus act in the past getting my car on borrowed trailers.
I demoed a HH car hauler speedloader ( http://hhtrailer.com/viewtrailer.asp?id=289 ) today and I was sure it was going to fit and the front bumper still hits before the front tire. Also tried a dove tail and a reg trailer and still get the same things with the ramps.
What are you using to hassle free to load and pull your cars?? Think I am going to just give up and sell the car..

I had a bri-mar, it was MADE for hauling cars. My car is very low and didnt scrape with the rear wheels of the truck on those plastic ramps. Best open trailer I ever had, fenders were removable but I could still open the doors with them on. I purposely bought an open center one, easier to tie the car down plus I could check out the whole underside before going to the track, not to mention lighter and cheaper.
It was lightweight and I towed all around the country with it for three years with no problems all. Plus they are powder coated (not painted), have 4 wheel brakes, LED lighting, big coupler, breakaway box with charger, all the wiring in conduit - very nicely made. Wish I still had it..
There are other nice ones out there too but if you have a dealer nearby check it out..

I just run a regular dove tail car hauler. In order to get the car on without scraping the nose, I back my truck on to ramps that I just throw in the bed of the truck. These are those cheap ramps that you can drive cars up on. They hold my Dodge Dually up just fine.
Car doors open fine over the fenders.
Here is a link to the pictures of my rig.

Best you can get is an Aluminum Trailer,I picked mine up in West Virginia last year and saved $2500 from the NY price(Long Island).Includes Breakaway,Chains,Electric Brakes,Aluminum Ramps,Quality tires and wheels.Aluminum Removable fenders but I have never removed them as the door clears fine.I jack up the front a little while still connected to the tow vehicle and the nose of the car clears(2000 Formula).Company that makes it is Aluminum Trailer.com.(ATC).

Problem with aluminum trailers is, they are very expensive and they get stolen like crazy. People around here steal them just to scrap them, but they are nice if you have a smaller SUV to tow with and they never rust - but that comes at a hefty price. I like the Texas rollbacks a lot too, but they also arent cheap,,

I just bought a bri-mar like KP's old one. Open center, 18 foot, and I have nothing but good to say about it. I was real lucky and got one that was used twice for 2 grand.... a new one here in CT was going for 3 grand plus the reg and tax.
I have to get a toolbox like the one you had KP, I'm gonna put a battery inside it, and a winch on the trailer, in case the car breaks I don't have to find 6 strong men and a pack mule to push it up on the trailer LOL.

I got the tool box at summit, was on sale pretty cheap at the time. Worked out very well, forget the brand. I bought mine as a 'demo' for 1700 three years ago, I really liked it and I have had seveal open trilers over the years. I have a 26' enclosed now and its a major PITA compared to the open trailer..

I Paid $3500 for that aluminum trailer, not a lot when you consider what I have in the Race car.
I am not gonna worry about anyone stealing the trailer thats what Insurance is for.
As Far as a enclosed trailer is concerned talk to someone who has one and what it does to your gas mileage you won't believe, its like towing a wall.
I only loose 2 miles a gallon towing the Race car,the trailer is only 1350 lbs.

Nothing wrong with an enclosed if you have the truck to pull it with. The first time someone messes with your car in a hotel parking lot or you have to leave your car at the track overnight and the guys one space over are building a 20' bonfire sometimes an enclosed is pretty nice. I'm not saying anything bad about YOUR trailer so dont take it personal, but there is usually more then one option..
I get 11-12mpg towing a 9'000lb 26' enclosed trailer, I live in the mountains and a LBZ Duramx pulls it just fine - dont even know its there most of the time. But I would rather have a light open trailer if I was just going for one day track events.
BlueThunder2, Its just a pain loading and unloading (even with the LH escape door and a remote winch), fooling with an equalizer hitch, harder to park/store, harder to manuver in tight spaces, harder to wash and sometimes you end up spending way too much time working on the trailer I miss just driving the car on the trailer and leaving in 15 minutes. Plus you can use a smaller SUV to tow an open trailer and dont need a big truck Six of one and half a dozen of the other, both have their pros and cons..

Hey JLWS6
That trailer is what got my 2000 Pewter Formula up to Eastside for the first tune.Ken is a real sweetheart ,got me in the Ballpark.
After testing at ATCO last fall we went to Crazy LSK Lobes and needed tune work that Eastside could not handle. We are looking for 9.20s NA.
Look on Ebay for the Aluminum Trailers.I asked how they could sell them for that and they replied"We buy em 200 at a time".
Perfectly stable at 80mph on the Jersey Trnpk

Like I said, my Bri mar has been good so far, I was happy with the price and the dealer is located in my old home town, and I've known them for years, good people.
I find it hard to belive that Ken couldn't handle the tuning. 9.20's n/a, that is flying too by the way.. what's the setup/raceweight?
