Default QA1 "R" series users inside please

just swapped to a set of R series and some heavier springs, front end was crashing down with the F series and 275 springs ever since i added the weight of the blower setup, kept smashing up the air filter on the blower inlet among othe things.

i have these R series turned all the way to the loose setting, dial all the way left, and the front end of this car just doesn't seem to come up at all when i nail it. with my old F series i used to be able to pick the left front tire up off the ground by rockign the converter a couple times from a roll..these R series the front end like hardly moves. i put the dial all the way to the right and it was worse obviously..

any input on this? i have 300 lb springs on the car now.

Different powerband? Blowers do take some time to make boost.

I'm not a fan of QA1 products, but you might want to have them looked over by the manufacturer.

How are they at the track? Same?

I have the R series on my car with stock springs and I found the same thing, they don't loosen up like the F series fronts do. I'm not 100% sure if it's the spring, or the shock that is going it, to me the shock all the way loose the front end should FLY up when you drop the hammer, but it doesn't seem to do it like I would expect.

fwiw I have a lw battery and some stuff out of the engine bay, but the bumper support all that is still there, alum motor. The nose is probably similar weight maybe a little heavier then your car is.

Sean, I have only taken out the A/C and front sway bar, I have a stock internal motor, QA1 "R"s in front set on 0 with 275lb springs and I can pull the tires on the street with 26" drag radials. You didn't turn them all the way to the right (clockwise) did you? That can cause the adjusting mechanism to break and cause the shock to leak by doing that. I would think with that power and the shocks & 300lb springs you would get better weight transfer than that. It's not like you have an iron block in it, or weighing 3800lbs. The only difference between the "F" and "R" is that the "R"s have a fixed compression and doesn't come down as fast and bounce like the "F"s.

When my F's were new I was able to blip the throttle and the nose would go up in the air. Now they have 35K miles on them and I think they are shot cause at the same setting, the car stays flat when I nail the throttle.

Im upgrading to the R's this summer.

hmmmmmm so i'm not the only one then that has noticed this.

seriously my old F series would completely unload the front suspension if i just flashed the converter and saw a few lbs of boost..do that a couple times quick and the left front time would be in the air from a roll. these things don't seem to come up much at all..
haven't been to the track yet with the, we'll see..

I just switched to the R-series a couple weeks ago and I thought the same exact thing until I took the car to the track. I was happy with 1.55's on 255/50/16 drag radials! It's hard to tell on the street, but they plain WORK at the track. 1.40's are definately not gay.
