Default Mini Tubbed and Small Set of M/T DR/Update May 11

Thought I would post a couple pictures of my "almost" completed 9" install and mini tub.

Ended up having to use my Bogarts (15x10 w/6 1/2" B/S) - my new American Racing 15x12's w/6" B/S didn't fit 100% right (they sat right under the fender lip). The M/T are 315x60x15's. Fit fairly good Wish I could take better pictures

David

How much did you move the wheel wells in? What kind of power does that bad boy make?

Watched as my builder cut all the way to the frame, even had to notch the frame and than re-enforce the frame.

Power: about as much as the 408 will hold. We have tried to dyno it more than a couple times. The tires just go up in smoke at 5500 rmps. We don't even make it to 100mph on the dyno. Best so far is 890 at 14lbs of boost with the tires doing a nice smokey burn out. We have it tuned for 19lbs. Will do 23lbs on the twins. So let see - 14lbs=890; each lb of boost got us about 60hp; so 890 + 300 = about 1200rwhp at 19lbs of boost Doubt we'll ever run that much. Last year was purely a TNT year. Best et at 9.16 was on 8-10lbs of boost (waste gates only). More than that the old 12-bolt didn't like. This year's 9" will solve that once we get back to the track

That part was some what confusing. I'm guessing you used the bogarts? How much did you end up having to narrow the rear?

Wolfe's. With some modifications. Bogarts. 3". Things seems to have worked out.

What did I do wrong? I have narrowed my rear 3.5" per side, used 15x10's w/ 5" b.s. wheels and Wolfe offset lower control arms with their tubs and I have a problem with the sidewall of the tire hitting the control arm...What did I forget to do..or do wrong?

you obviously narrowed the rear too much or got too much backspacing. If it was narrowed 2" per side 5.5" backspacing would have fit, but since you narrowed it another 1.5" you'd need 4" backspacing to work, so you have a little too much backspacing, I would imagine even 4.5" backspacing might work for you jshiver depending on how much those offset LCAs hit.

Have never measured it. Just know that they fit without any extreme bulge.

Not sure what the difference in his set-up and mine. BUT by your logic, with mine narrowed 3", I would need 4.5" (or 5") B/S. As you can see no problems. We made our own off-set LCA. Is the tire close to the LCA, yep!! The 4-5" B/S would have the tires setting right under the fender...not what I wanted.

I just noticed I did not mention that for now I'm running a 7/16" spacer. Don't like the idea, but with 5/8" studs not worried. With 6 1/2" B/S rims, it took it to close to the LCA. If I would have been able to get a 15x10 with 6" B/S I would not have to run any spacer. Just can't afford another set of Bogarts and the American Racing only comes in 15x10 with 5" B/S - again doubt they would work.

I'm trying to decide now between a 15 x 10 or 15 x 12 wheel? I like the added contact patch with the 15 x 12, but I only know of one guy running those around here. I'm not too sure about the backspacing or how much to narrow the rear end either. I guess when I order my rear (which will be a while $$$) I just need to talk to them.

Anyone want to give some general measurements about how this works out?

PS: I have wolfe mini tubs, offset LCAs, and 325/50/15 et street radials.

I have 3 inches narrowed per side, 15x10 COnvo Pro with 5 inch BS, and a 325/50 drag radial...my control arms are offset all the way to the inside. My tire is 3/8 of an inch away from the LCA. I have small Chrome Moly Lca's about 1.250 in diameter.

You narrowed too much, you will need a 4.5 inch BS wheel or a spacer to fix it. Or a smaller LCA.
