Default Moser 9 inch tq arm bracket

OK I have my 9 inch ready to bolt in but am questioning the sanity of bloting a 14 pound piece of cast iron AND the 5 pound bracket that came with the arm together to make a 20 pound piece of balast that can be simplified into one lighter/simple bracket. Who makes one or will it have to be a custom one off built and engineered totaly not feasable unit. Here is a pik of the one ton bracket Moser sent with the axle package.

Any ideas?

Use the one you have. We have tried to lighten them and Moser tried. The will fold up is they are changed.

That 20lbs is in a good place, I dont think the old welded one was much lighter then the cast one. I see what you mean by trying to make it all one piece and bolt the arm directly to it but by the time you were done making one strong enough it would probably not weigh much less.

You should have cut the ribs on the center section and not cut the bracket.

it was mostly the main cap bolt heads that were in the way. didnt want to cut those....
this torque arm bracket is total overkill. the steel they used to make it is 1" thick.

Total overkill? Did you see what Brady did to his? Brady is not the only one to do that to the older style welded bracket. I have installed 2 of my own, both times I trimmed the ribs on the center section, they made it that big for a reason. That bracket takes the whole load of making the car hook and transfers it to the rearend and tires.

To each his own I guess.

yours must be different from mine then, because i would have had to remove the entire bolt heads from the center section. trimming the ribs would not have helped me any.
i wound up grinding out material from the mount where i needed clearance. it took me a few grinding disks.

i realize it "handles the load" of upward force on the torque arm..... and if it breaks somehow ill do something different. i would really like to get rid of the mount setup and run the torque arm all the way to the rear somehow. kinda like one big oversized ladder bar.

anybody got any pics of brady's messed up mount?
