It's hard to win an argument with my kids at times. They are not mature enough to grasp basic logic and reasoning skills. That will come with time.

What's your excuse?

I do race when the car runs.

Nate said he did not want to see them, and that he did not want to make any concessions. Nate at this point knows what our car runs, he always has. I told him that we were not feeling good about this but would go to the track and go from there. We talked to the Mustang guys, and the conversation was not very productive. I don’t fault them in the slightest, they don’t know us and could care less who they raced. All I’ll say is that, one of the Pinks guys told us Saturday that the Mustang had a 431ci stroker. The Mustang guys said they had a 302ci based motor. It really does not matter but you have to understand, everything was getting changed.

We offered to race for money because we did not want their car, because all the other contestants told us the car was rough.

Nate texted me “Yeah I heard about ur meeting with them. That sealed the deal for me. Go home. It’s over.”

I called and we were turned away at the gate. Pat and Stephanie at the gate would remember that, we were no longer on the list.

I don’t want to get into the street racing stuff, but it was either go hang out with car guys, sit around the hotel all night, or go to a casino. We like cars.

An average guy like me with 40-50K in his car sure as **** isnt going to race it for titles, anyone with half a brain knows a 25 cent part can stop you from making passes. So you have to take what you can get.

But the should make a show with some better quality cars, and let the owners put up 10K instead of the car and go at it. But you already have the all-out stuff plus people just watch the show to see the drama. If you own a 50K race car losing 10K doesnt seem like much but some kid with his duct taped together fox going for broke is pretty entertaining
Egos??? What egos??? I smell no egos here???? That's just the cow pasture a certain few have walked through to get to their keyboard bench racing seats.

You're right KP, no one wants to loose their car and that's OK because you don't have to put your favorite car up for the race. People don't care about seeing a pretty car go slowly down the track. The people in the stands want to see you hang it out on the line with everything you've got and leave nothing left to "what if". The crowd got that in KC but more importantly, that's what the teams brought to the track.

I guess it comes down to some simple things...

Those that can do it, Do it. You won't regret the blood, sweat and tears to build a fast car and make it run at the track. Win or Loose, it will be some of the best times you'll ever have with your car buddies.

Those that can't for what ever reason, keep on bench racing, but don't pretend you can do it or that you're better than some one that's done it. Until you've put in the effort, you are just a spectator.

It's not the risk of the "shitbox" or the pretty "show car" getting lost that makes you a man. It's the pride that you and your team hang out there in the bet that makes you a man. It's the pain of asking for cars in one race and the joy of running the last one with the other car dragging on your bumper.

A few of us have actually done it. I'm sure KP could build the car to do it, along with a few others that aren't riding the ego train in here. The rest, it sounds like we have a bunch of "negotiators" looking for a team to join up to build them a car to talk about.

When you can pull 33K people to a track that's previous best is in the 20K range for NHRA/IHRA events, you've done something. PINKS and PINKS All Out draw more people to the sport. The more people these shows pull, the more money we get in the tracks and the easier it is to keep them from becoming golf courses or restored to farm land.

Prior to going out to the KC’s guys local hangout, we all ran into Rich, Kale, Gavin, Bob, and some of their camera crew at the hotel, we were all staying at the same place. We basically blindsided Rich and those guys because they had no idea who were. I don’t think they even know what cars are running until they go to the track, no biggie. After some heated exchanges, since some of our guys were upset since they basically flew in from Houston and found out two hours later we had been dismissed.

Rich and Kale are standup guys. I told Rich I would tell folks on the web that we offered to race for cash and so I have done that. Rich has integrity and is a total straight shooter. Kale is cut from the same cloth, very good guy and he’s the ‘real deal.’ Adam walked in around then and Rich asked Adam if we could still figure something out. I told Rich in front of everybody, and there were 40 people in the lounge, that if he gave me his word to make it fair that we would race for titles. He turned to Adam to try to get something done and Adam said it was too late, they had an alternate. Well the Malibu raced twice, and won twice. So who was the alternate? I also offered to race the Malibu instead of the Mustang. That was also declined. And to be honest, I still know nothing about the Malibu I just heard it was a nice car and ran some very good and clean TnT passes Friday night before we got there.

I’ll say it again. Rich and Kale are standup guys.

Let me conclude by addressing some questions one by one:

I paid for or own the majority of the content in the car. I did a rapid calculation in my head, and the donated parts on the car total up about $5-6K. I have that covered. I’m ready to pay any sponsor who wants to get out of the car. We will be at the LSX Shootout with the car, and we are going to be in GMHTP.

I spent $7,000 last week.

We were told to bring a 10.5 combo, car could be faster but most likely we’d run the 10.5 combo. After seeing the MI vs MI race, we could see that the show could change around the terms so much that we needed some sort of fairness built in around this 8.80 nitrous combo. I asked that they run their 10.2 motor setup and we’d run our wet nitrous setup. Only. I was even willing to agree to a 9.99 breakout and a 135mph cap. Again we just want a fair race right? Gladiators get equal weapons in the ring right? It’s about the man and not the weapon. Rich is big on many competition and it resonates with me, but not when someone brings a cannon to a gun fight.

And again, and for the record, Rich and Kale totally tried to salvage the race. Now keep in mind it was 4PM, and were supposed to be the second race. That meant we were racing around 9PM. I wanted to race, that’s why I said “Rich if you shake on this we will do it.” We just never had that same level of comfort from our liason, because our liason went from being nice to making it all very personal. Now we were fine until the race changed and our opponent was a completely different car. I’m sure the outcome would have been quite different; it would have been some good racing. The original opponent might have been a little faster than us, but their car was just as nice.

This all got very personal, and the fact of the matter is that at 4PM Saturday we could have raced if Rich had his way.

Rich from Motown, you are getting very carried away in this thread, and I am really disappointed with you. You really come across like two different people. I mean come one, two guys from your side came up to us after your race and told us we were gonna get landed on by the other car. This was just an hour after two of the turbo Mustang guys told us the same thing. Keep in mind, we never asked this stuff. We did the right thing, by trying to get their staff to agree to make things fair before we looked like idiots on national television. If those other guys ran all out to our all out they would have put 20 cars on us. Yup yup, we never saw the car true that. Those guy were just fine, they were there to have fun and race.

I see the whole thing as a breakdown in communication. Had we had a meeting and not done 95% of the stuff over the phone and text messages it would have gone better. Had we dealt with Rich or Kale it would have gone better. I thought Bob Ecker was a good guy too.

Man that sucks to hear how everything broke down like that. I dont like how they try to pair cars that dont match on that show sometimes. Its cool that your taking the car to the LSX shootout though.

Again, not enough communication. We landed from our flight and drove to the track. They wouldn't let us in because they said we weren't on the list. We called PSJ and got half of the story. We drove back to the hotel to find out wtf was going on. Rich and his crew were sitting in the lobby. Madman decided to confront Rich to find out what was going on. Rich had no clue what had happened behind the scenes and it all flew off the handle from there. It really wasn't any big deal. Just a few people telling it like it was trying to get the story straight. We talked.. we yelled... we shook hands...

Someone asked for pics of the Mustang. Here is the only one I have found... notice it doesn't even have a marker light on the DR side.

**Note: These are NOT my pics, I stole them off the local board. **

A bunch of people will like this one... Nate at his finest!
