Tallest rear slick without major hacking?

The 28x10.5 slicks fit easily on the Camaro, but it might take sense to go to a taller tire when these are done. I like MT's, but Hooser makes a 29" slick I think, are those any good?

Goodyear Eagle 28x11x15 are actually 28.9 tall. I have them on my car now, with only minor bumper cover trimming, inner wheel well hammering, and cut off bump stop mount. There mount on bogarts with a stock width rear. If the hoosier's are only 29 and not like 29.5 they should fit pretty easy. Is this for your Formula?

John, I hope I didn't come off as a smart *** or something. Just a year or so ago, BradWS6 was racing at GLD in the Summit Super Series, and put on his new taller slicks. They fit alright, and he *thought* there was enough clearance. At the big end they grew enough to contact the rear bottom of the wheel opening. He ended up taking about a 1/4" wide groove out of the slick all the way around - it could have been a dangerous situation. You know how nice Brad's car looks, and he wasn't about to start hacking on it either, so he went back to his normal size slicks. I just wanted to make sure you didn't overlook the possibility of them looking like they fit fine, and then having them make contact on the big end.

Hehe, np. I usually go for a half inch of room. I remember having to look at this stuff on my 98 Formy, I actually burned away part of the rear bumper cover when I first went to a 28x10.5.

My 28 10.50's rub both the front and the rear bumper area. I adjusted the rear end back and the tires are just touching in the front. If I spray some paint on the front egde it will wear off the paint with the tire growth. So I would say some tires grow more then others. I have atleast 3/4 of a in ch in the front.
I had asked PPJ about this when I put them on so I will be trimming the bumper but I don't want to trim the quarter.

I have them on a 8 inch rim with a 5.5 inch back spacing. I would rather have the 15x10 but I got the rims and slicks for $200 because the guy didn't like the way they fit. I would like to think that on a 10" rim there would be less tire growth but I can't back that statement up.

John, I'm just curious as to why you wouldn't want to try the lightweight radial Hoosier slicks in the 30 x 10.5 x 15 size. They're 29.5" tall and only weigh 23 pounds. They won't grow on the big end so clearancing for them should be easier. I want to run these on my car in the worst kind of way but had rather someone else give me a report on them first. Why don't you try them and let me know???

Those tires are proven, I'd rather not run that big of a tire right now since I don't get excited about the clearancing. Plus I don't think the car needs a 30" tire to work.
