new motor, how long to RACE!
how many miles is everyone here putting on their fresh ls1's before letting it rip at the track?
mti recommends 1000 miles, is that a bit much?

1000 miles... I have put that many on in 1 1/2 years. Jump on it and seat those rings.. Put standard 10w -30 oil in now. Change the oil after you get in dynoed with thge same standard oil. No synthetic and change it again after your drive home. It should be good to go by then. If you need some one to break it I mean break it in, give me a call... I would love to take that beast for a trip down the track...

Re: new motor, how long to RACE!
The rings should effectively be seated after 15-20 of initial run time. Change the oil, and head to the track. Make a couple of really easy passes, make sure everything's as it should be afterwards, then let it rip!
If the engine's built right (which I'm sure MTI builds them right), there should be very little break-in required. I don't think Warren Johnson puts 1000 miles on one of his Pro Stock mills before hitting the track!

George, that sounds more like it to me!
when will yours be done Brad?
they recommend non synthetic for break-in then changing to synthetic after break-in.

Re: new motor, how long to RACE!
did you say no NO SYNTHETIC OIL? with a new motor? just curious as to why not to run synthetic if that is what you are saying
