SFI 25.2 Mustang/LSx build "The Renegade"
#2346
I called motec today and told them the skinny and they said their box would have no problems running a 2,4,6,8,10,12 ohm injector as long as the box is setup correctly. At this point we're going to finish the season on the 160s with the jacked up line pressure and re-eval the injectors next year. I think Shawn said we're 84% DC @ 109psi of rail pressure.

Motor is down. The head gaskets held like a champ, 4.175" bore + a ton of boost + a ton of timing and she lives. Absolutely no leakage between cylinders.
We're going to throw some new bearings and a couple little things in and get back after it. Should be back out in a week or so.

So far so good on the teardown.
Cylinder heads show no sign of leaking combustion
Bearings look unran
Cylinder walls look good could be better
We're going to try and get the combo up and running ASAP, we're making a couple changes in the tranny, engine is getting new bearings and a once over. We touched 41# of boost on a pass last month and well over 30 on the rest and everything looks gooood. We're going to throw her back in and start layin the wood.

Like you say, sounds BS. I do some ECU design, so have worked with injectors on the bench and scoped the current etc.
Normal hi-z injectors take about 1 amp.
Normal low-z injectors have a highish peak and then hold at a lower current.
Something needing 2amps to open with 8.5ohm impedance doesn't sound like it was designed for 12V electrics.
Your car is an inspiration.

Depending on what you have invested in the injectors you could have them tested at 24V. Where are they? I know someone in VA that could likely do it for you. (Will send PM.)
I hope I'm not talking crap, but possibly using a dual battery setup to give the injectors 24V might work.
Hope you get it sorted either way.
