What I like about the star pump is that you will most likely never outgrow it unless you build some 650+ci mountain motor.

the quaility is amazing so is the customer service.

You've already spent thousands on your setup whats another $200 for the best pump you can buy

I am only running my alternator and was also looking for a vacuum pump. I have motor plates. Has anyone set up a pump with something like this? I am also in the market for a vacuum pump right now. I was leaning towards the aerospace and then figuring it out from there as far as mounting. I have also been pondering if I can run it off of my ASP Pulley, where the A/C belt use to go. I think it is a 4 rib belt here.

Phil99vette, did you use the Sportsman or Standard pump?
Standard pump with built-in regulator.

Very creative mounting. The alternator is going right below the fuel pump. I've got 1/2" between the alternator and the bottom of the K-member. Its LOW. The belt has 3/4" of clearance between the fuel pump boss and the belt. I'll have pics of the finished mount this weekend.

Its no big deal to get a machine shop to fit the mandrel to the pulley.. I had a friend of mine do it at his shop here in Birmingham and only took a few minutes..

I have the Aerospace pump and I got the mounting brackets from Tim Tosto for pretty cheap I think. Everything went together with ease..

Is there a such thing as an electric pump?
It seems to me that it would be much easier to install.

(I've been considering something for my cammed LT1 setup)

I put my GZ Motorsports pump on yesterday and it is awesome - definitely needed the regulator! Put a guage on the crankcase and went up the street to set it - pulled over 15" on a hit of the throttle - adjusted it down to 12" with the regulator and I can feel a difference in the car for sure!

The kit is great - everything you need except a serpentine belt - have to get one an inch longer. Well thought out, great price, and simple to install - highly recommend it.

It does look like a nice kit AND LS specific. Anyone else running this kit?

That kit is nice. I checked ot out also, but found out I could not run it because I was not going through all the stock pulleys. I think you have to have most of that stuff to run it. Please correct me if I am wrong.

That is what backed me up too.. seems that you have to run a stock WP or a "street" version electric WP so the main belt goes all the way up to the stock tensor...

That is true - for the LS kit, you have to be using the stock tensioner.

But GZ could surely come up with other ways to work a setup for you - they sell kits and parts for many different engine combinations and mountings.

I know I am no where near the HP of you guys but could the stock AIR pump be used? I have the APS TT kit and was just thinking of hooking the inlet side up as a vacume pump. Will this work? I know it wont be alot but its free and I was thinking it should help some.

I kept throwing belts, so I got rid of my tensioner. The only thing I have on a belt now is the alternator and the crank pulley. I made the alternator adjustable so that I can tighten the belt.

I would have to put the tensioner back on to run this system because the pulley goes in place of the stock tensioner pulley. I wonder if I put the stock tensioner back in its original place, that if it would rub on the race electric water pump.

The only other thing I can think of is to mount that small 14 tooth pulley to the crank or buy a mandrel. I don't know if there's a mandrel out there with the same tooth design as this kit.

n2ojunkie, I highly doubt it will work good enough. It won't be strong enough and you'll be lucky to pull 1 to 2".
