Will this roll cage certify?
I bought a car with wolfe thur the floor sub frame connectors. The cage is welded to 2" x 3" mild steel outriggers. All the pictures I have show the hoops welded to 6x6 plates. Thanks!

Sonic test for minimum .118 wall thickness for mild steel .083 for c-moly I think, look for weld quality and to make sure you have the right amount of points and that the cage is welded to 6x6 plates or to sub frames. The cage in the photos should certify fine.

If I have bars going thru the floor, closer to the tunnel, that connect to the ladder bar crossmember, which connects to the subframes, would the main hoop still HAVE to have 6x6 plates or would maybe a 4 or 5" square plate be ok. I think I know the answer but that part of the cage was installed before I thought about certification several years ago.

The 75.00 is well worth it to get it certified, especially if you sell the car or plan on hitting some bigger events. They will check the tube diameters with a go/no-go gauge, sonic test the tubing, look at the welds (they have to be extremely shittty to not pass) and make sure all the points are there. Usually at the beginning of the season most local NHRA tracks have a day where they do chassis inspections right at the track.
Cert is good for three years on sportsman cages.
