Here are some pics of fitting the 28x10,5 ET drag on the 15x8 5.5bs wheels. I had to clearance the quarter panels for safe clearance.

HAHA, yeah it's big. I need it to get cars up on the frame rack. It helps a ton with big 4x4's also.

How's your car coming along?

I got the carpet in and the rear seat deleat. My carpet job kinda sucks. I made a few bad cuts. But the rear seat deleat looks killer. The guy who made it does awesome work. It fit's like a glove.

I'll post some pics after I eat dindin and get my little one off to bed.

I got the car scaled today. That was cool, I learned a lot of things. It weighs 2630lbs with out me and 6 gallons of fuel. With me and a helmet and work clothes and boots it was 2820lbs.
The frt to Rr disbursement was 55%frt and 44%Rr. If the motor was 2" back were it should be it would be right on target. Lt to Rt was 13lbs heavier on the right.
We went over the whole chassis front to rear checking things and making adjustments. We set the pinion at -2. He said there did not look like there would not be any bump steer. We also centered the rear end.

I feel a bit safer taking it to the track now that I have that done by a chassis guy. And I'm happy to see it weigh what I thought it would. I was shooting for 2600lbs.

We are taking it to the dyno tomorrow for some fine tuning on the rollers. Stay tuned...

I've never seen anyone have to clearance the 1/4 panel of a mustang to clear those tires. I ran the exact same ones on my notch (same rims too) and only had to slightly roll the inner lip.

I just did a fox for a guy with 28x10.5 ET drags and I'll have to clearance them with 15x10 with 6.5bs as well as a mini tub. The opening isn't that big on the notchs so I definitely will have to cut slots in them as well later on when I get the car back to finish it.

Yeah, I agree with putting teh PV back in since the car see's street duty. If you still have that lean spot, either start with PV or jets, but not both at teh same time. Change one at a time so you know which (if it does) fixes or helps the problem. Since you are starting with teh 5.5, might want to up a jet size to start with. If you still have teh lean spot, I would change out teh PV before I swapped jets again, and see if that helps.

Man I don't see how. Before I cut the quarters, I could barely get my finger tip in between the tire and quarter. There was about 1/2" clearance. And the tire will grow about 1" at 130 mph, that sounds scary.

My friend had a car just like that but it still had a ford motor in it. it would run 5.40s in the 1/8 with stock suspension and welded up rear. it was a 351 to a 408 with a 175 shot

nice car. it seems like a fox body is a perfect platform for drag racing. i'm not sure how they transfer weight but they are definitely light.

Well, that was a serious motor to run a 5.40 and only a 175 shot. What heads? Compression?

Yeah, a Fox Body is ALMOST a perfect platform to work with. Really teh only thing hindering it, is teh shorter wheelbase. Most of your upper tier cars, lengthen the wheelbase to help out on teh big end. But, the cars are a great platform to start and work with. I have done quite a few over teh years, and I am doing another one right now, with an LS series motor. That is why I started following this thread......

Every car is different. I have done @ 18 (give or take a couple) Mustangs over teh years, and while they are all close, every single one of them was slightly different. A certain wheel/tire package, may work on one car, and not on another. Could not tell you why, other than manufacturing variances.
A GT is the worst to work with (which I have now, and have done a few others as well)

Not a real good shot of teh rear tire setup, but best I had. That is a 28-10.5, and had to trim front and rear ground affects. That car got mini tubs, but before we did that, with stock wheel housings, it was a 28-10.5 on a 8" rim, with a 5.5" BS, and (again) trim front/rear ground affects, but no metal cutting, with teh outer wheel housing lip rolled in. It was CLOSE, but it fit.
On a LX hatchback I had, same rim/tire, with just the outer lip rolled, fit, but I had to use a wheel spacer. And then, on a 87 Notchback, had to trim some metal (like you did).
Either way, you got the tire in there now, looking good.

Also, I was really thinking about your car last night. Have you put that 5.5 PV in yet? If not, start out on the other end of teh spectrum, like a 8 or something, and work your way down.

We went to the dyno yesterday and I was not pleased with the out come. First of all we were the last one to get on it. So it was 5:30 by the time we got on it. The car started out very lean with the 5.5pv, 75frt/87Rr jets. We went up 5 on both, it was still lean. Went up 5 more and it was rich. Dropped it 2 sizes and it was rich again. Went up 1 and it was lean.
We could not get it just right. The guy at the dyno shop said every demon he has seen was junk. They could never get them just right. He suggested switching the carb to something else.
We bumped the timing 2 deg at a time until it lost power. We ended up with 32 total.
My wideband was not reading the same as his. So I pulled my sensor and put on of his in there and hooked it to his pc on the dyno.

The end result was 420ish hp and 400ish tq. It was late and I forgot to get the graph. I made about 8 pulls between all the jet changes. We ended up with 85frt/96Rr jets and she is a little rich running in the 11.8:1 range. But with one size lower jets it would run around 13.5 to 13.8:1 and lost about 50hp.

Over all I was not impressed. I either need to find someone who can help me get this carb right or I need to get a diff carb.

The car pulls really hard on the street and revs quickly.
