The Shootout was a roller coaster ride of events for me.
It started off with my fuel guy putting methanol in my fuel can and I could not figure out why it was running all crazy.
Got that handled and my father left two plug wires off and that took a hour to find cause they were slid on but not snapped.
Then the car ran great. I made a motor pass and it went 9.86.
The next day was true street and we did good on the drive. No issues. The first pass was 9.04@150 on the spray(.082 jet) the next was 8.97@150.
On the return road while waiting to make the third pass I was messin with the trans brake the wires to the brake shorted out against a metal plate I had them run under. The car about caught fire from the deal. It was not pretty.
This put me out of the race. And I had a 9.01 avg at that point!
I was pissed. But that's racing.

BADASS BRO!! Glad you got it all back together and it will be even tougher next time out!

on a side note, mine sold and new owner went right to the track with it risking the valve float (never got to the track this year before selling it as i never got the time to get the new springs swapped over) and clicked off a 1.25, 5.62 @ 125.71 and 8.75 @ 156 on 20psi and called it a day at that. it's tuned to 22 but i don't doubt he will be looking for aftermarket heads and more boost soon enough! but i'm happy to finally see you get into the 8's! i'm gonna be in the market for another ls/fox but with a turbo or 2 this time around.

keep up the great work man!!

Right on Scott. I hope you had a good time at the race this year. The weather was awesome this time.

Dave, I can't beleive the car is sold. I seen a post were you were waiting on the buyer to show up for it. 8.75 is no joke. And to think there is more in it. You will miss that car come next summer lol.

I sure did! Got a little chilly that evening, but I didn't plan very well.

Maybe next year I'll actually run into you sometime while I'm there

Well my car is just sittin pretty in my garage just beggin for me to start on the winter maintenance. My work is slow so I can't afford to buy new parts yet but there is lots of cleaning and servicing I want to do. And the wiring problem on the trans break needs redone.

The upgrades I want to do are Strange front brakes and new Afco double adjustable front struts.

My goals for this year are as close to 8.50 as she will go and 155 mph plus.

sounds like we have similar goals again lol except i Still need to go that .07 faster to reach the 8's!

Turbo, yes....2 of them this time to be precise! I don't have the know how to disassemble a block and go through it or i'd give the jy thing a shot. I'm just going to look around for a forged motor if i can find a deal or bite the bullet on having AES build me 1 of their 390's probably. Every now and then i start looking for bigger & badder but i really don't want to drop every coin i have after selling my other car, i could still use a far better dd than my 200k+ mile '97 escort rust bucket lol i shouldn't speak ill of it, it's the primary reason i'm able to afford to build Anything! No payments, chases parts great (wagon) and get's 29-30mpg yet which is needed for my 65 mile round trip commutes to work!

I have aerospace fronts & strange rears for the brakes (sadly they left it 4 lug! smh) and want to do 5 lug for wheel options so i will have the rear brakes drilled out by them for it and will end up selling my aerospace fronts and buying the strange to match. Hoping to have enough to minitub the car for a bigger tire or at least a sweet stance with coil overs as long as the work is being done back there.

I hope to get this chassis recertified this year and hit up a big boy track and maybe get to an LS event nearby, like Indy or 66, wherever it'll be at, Just for the fun of it lol

Afco's would be nice to have!!

If your on a budget you should consider doing a junk yard motor build. Keep it at a modest level for a few years and it will stay together.

I will have enough for a properly built motor, just nothing like and ERL type build LOL same power as before (1000'ish rw) but lighter. If I can get it to 60' like the ss did I'll be in business!

I like that black notch!

Dam that car is clean as hell. It still has the info labels on the rad support. Those go quick once wrecked. Nice interior too.
Why does it have a sfc on drives side but not pass?

It looks like a 10.50 setup at least. Very nice.

If you cant get a fox chassis to 60' then you need to sell it lol. My car does 1.40 on an absolute junk *** track. And low 1.30's on an avg track.
