Kooks 1 7/8" & Nick Williams 90mm TB vs. Kooks 1 7/8" X 2" & 105mm TB
I would like to swap from my current Kooks 1 7/8" x 3" and Nick Williams 90mm throttle body to 1 7/8" x 2" x 3" and 105mm throttle body. Do you think it will be worth any power on my setup?
Does anyone know the wiring needed to make the 105mm Accufab work in a LS1 being that it was designed for a Ford?
Also, is there any other manufacturer that makes a 105mm (or bigger than 90mm) that is a direct swap?

I heard from a very reliable source that stepping to 2" is not worth it, unless a power adder is involved. So I got a good deal on 1 7/8" and maybe kept a little ground clearance with the 3" collector since I'm still trying to keep my car on the street.
If you call Accufab and talk to one of the smart guys, he will go through a math formula with you to figure out what size TB you need without going overkill. I thought my application was semi-serious and 90mm is more than plenty at 7200+RPM. If you decide to run a Ford style TB(Accufab, etc.) then you just swap some of the three wires and I believe it mounts on the other side of the TB. You also have to block the IAC, I think, and run a custom linkage which you have to do anyway with your intake.
No one makes a GM TB bigger than 90mm, but NW is workin on something...

i'm no expert but i think 2" still too much for that ^N/A combo also...correct me if i'm wrong.

So I just had an informative conversation with one of the guys at Accufab. I wanted to see what you guys thought.
He gave me this formula (ci x rpm x 3456) = maximum (100% VE)
A stock motor he claims will have roughly 75% of that. Strip/steet motor will have about 85% and a full race motor will have 90%. So in my case, I would be at 90%.
So 90% of 903, which is the VE calculated above, would be 812. He also stated that their 90mm throttle body supports over 1300 cfm. On a fuel injected motor he said that you can get away with more, but on a carb motor you need to be close to what the motor will produce.
With all that said, he said that a 90mm would be plenty and that I would be wasting my time and money with a 105mm.
What do you think about that?

To get the 105mm tb to work you need an IAC adaptor. It's either going to be a push in or thread in type. Accufab sells both models for $75.99. You'll also need to use a ford TPS sensor and adapt the harness. From what I've heard the harness is just three wires.

hey if you're interested i have a intake elbow and a accufab 105mm TB. i saw somewhere on here how to wire it up so that info is somewhere on the board i just cant remember what keyword i used to search. i actually have a intake and rails too if you want the whole enchilada.

Beaflag VonRathburg, I came across a couple of threads where he talked about doing a 100mm. I sent him a PM, but he hasn't read it yet. He doesn't get on too often. Thanks for the info.
rons 00z, thanks for the offer, but I'm going to stick with my 90mm throttle body and sheet metal intake.
