hauling question
any body use a car dolly to pull their car to the drag strip. I only have about 12 miles to the track but ive never pulled one of these before. I have a m6 car and i will be running nitto dr's if that makes a diff. thanks
.
Last time I saw someone use a dolly, we were in the pits & hear a god awful noise out on the street.
My wife & I are looking around like what the hell? Some guy comes pulling in with a old ford or dodge,
forget which. Both rear wheels fell off, he was draging in on the traction bars. I always parked 1st space,
so he pulls in next to us. Boy was he upset & red.
Nice guy & his wife. Had to borrow nuts & tow home on the slicks.
So, make sure you tighten & check the street tires every so often, as you tow. He said, he never heard or felt anything??

12 miles-no mufflers=drive the car....................there is no way i would go thru the trouble of hooking it up to tow it 12 miles. use your gears in the m6 to keep the noise down. i drive my car around here to car shows with slicks and one chambers.
I agree with red83, 12 miles ain't jack! It will take maybe 13 minutes to get to the track driving vs 20 minutes minimum to get it loaded and strapped securely then 15 minutes or so to the track. By the time you get there on the dolly you could have already made at least one pass and been a whole lot safer than pulling it on a dolly. Just my .02

Get something, I'm not leaving my car sitting at the track because of a 50 cent failure.
No way in hell. I don't care if it's 4 blocks. I've broke down when I used to drive & seen hundreds others.

I have been running Dynomax 3" bullet mufflers in the Camaro and if I lived 12 miles from the track I would never trailer that car. Heck I could go home and get the trailer if I broke something.
I think when you tow with a dollie you have to remove the DS in a auto car, not sure in stick car.

also been debating this question for a while now. I have heard with a th350/400 and 4k stall or bigger you shouldnt drive more than 45 minutes in anyone direction. Anyone have any input to why

thats not good info at all. just upgrade or be sure you have a trans. cooler. think about it this way---------overdrives havent been around forever and stall converters have.
I don't own a trailer so I rent one from the local Uhaul when I go to the track, which is 35 miles away from home.
On the juice w/ the stock 10 bolt and I know something is bound to give one of these days.

I would not use one of those dolly's. Our front ends are very low and you may damage something. I have to be very carefull when loading mine on and off my open trailer. I have to extend the ramps.
