Not gutted completely
No full lexan winshield (sides and back are passable)
No one piece fiberglass frontend
No parachute
No wheelie bar
No Tube chassis
Working headlights/Tails/Blinkers

Thats pretty much it. Almost everything else is passable.

Slick & skinny
built 9" or 12 bolt
Crazy gear
Crazy trans
Race gas
Fiberglass body pieces (hood, fenders, trunk/hatch)
No A/C
No smog equipment
N20
Turbo
Supercharger
Cage

All ok. Alot of DD street cars have that stuff.

I agree with that , and the car has to be able to drive a little ways with out overheating.

I like this. How about cars w/o cats, EGR, and air pump?

My thoughts:

1. pump gas

2. full interior

3. stereo

4. power windows and locks

5. able to drive 300 miles non-stop

Insured
No Tubs

/\ Will make a 300 mile drive

* See picture below

Other than that no rules. If it runs only on race gas I don't really think its a street car either, because you won't find race gas on the street.

What did the fastest car on drag week average 7.70s in the 1/4 or something like that and it towed a trailer for 1000 miles between tracks.

If its tagged and insured its a street car IMO, any more conditions than that are just excuses to justify a slower car lol.

a street car is more forgiving when talking about racing a street car. I tend to be more picky when talking about racing a so called DD.

I think of a street car as a vehicle that can make a 50 mile drive to the track and run numbers and drive back the same day with no problems. I see a street car as any car you can drive to the post office and not have to worry about getting pulled over 50 feet out of your driveway. I see a street car as a car you can get in on a 95 degree day and turn the key and not have to worry about it overheating. Just things like that ya know, I just think its annoying when someone says there car is a street car and it has a 25.5 cage with 31" slicks on it, gutted out interior with nothing but a shifter and a drivers seat.

If it's tagged and insured to me it's a street car.
I wouldn't want to drive my car too far, I'll definately admit that but I do drive it to the track and the shop (on the parkway) and to certain car show's etc. I would say a 50 mile drive would be as far as I'd want to drive with it, mostly because of the cost of 110 fuel but also because it's not as comfortable as my caddy.
Some cars are certainly more "comfortable/cost effective etc" than others but they are usually slower as well.
It is what it is, you wouldn't want to drive your big Dooly pickup into a big crowded city or even a tight parking lot all the time either but that doesn't make the truck less streetable. Just my opinion.

Can idle/sit in traffic all day with out over heating.
Has a valid tag, sticker and insurance
Can drive down the street without anything breaking. (wheels, drag brakes)
Not crazy stupid loud (so it doesn't attract cops)
Bias ply tires are fine, I used to daily drive on Hoosier QTPs as long as it wasn't raining or snowing.
As far as options go, I say get rid of anything you don't feel you need. If you don't use a/c, pull it. Don't listen to the radio, pull it.
I once got into a heated debate with my brother over my Camaro. I pulled the bumper supports, cruise control, abs and a few other non-essential pieces and he tried to tell me that the car is now a race car. It's really an interpretation. You can look at my big *** drag radials, rollbar and dual exhaust and think race car, or you can see that I still have working air conditioning, working cd player and a completely stock interior and see a street car. It's all in how you look at it. This debate will go on as long as there are cars on the road.

Tagged/Insured + Pump gas (93 octane) = street car if you ask me. Doesn't matter if its making 400hp or 1400hp, or if it has a cage or th400.

I have friends that tell me mine is a race car? Damed slowest race car ever if it is.

We came up with a point system , not saying this is right but here it goes:

It seems everyone is always arguing over whether or not their car is a street car or a race car. It seems no one has ever come up with a system to determine this. We got together today and came up with a little test to see if your car is a race car or street car. So here it is... the arguing is OVER!! Go down the list and add up your mods. If you add up to 100 or better, you have a RACE CAR!!

100 pts = race car
