Because the M/T is a newer more improved version of the BFG.

There are also brand preferences and of course legal tires in certain classes. If the hoosier or M/T are not available, the bfgs will work better than nittos.

i went 1.55 on a 17 inch bfg drag radial 4400 stall and 4.10's fwiw!

I have almost the exact same set up as you minus the LTs an I used M/T ET street (non radial)(26x11.5x16) and they worked great high 1.5 60's on motor and on a 150 shot still hooked fine with a low 1.4 60'
