Question Best way to mount a aftermarket tach?

needing a aftermarket tach in my SS when the rpms get above 5,000 the tach needle hangs up so i figured id just put a new tach in it and be done with it instead of going to the stealership and all that.

i really want it on my dash but dont want to drill holes in it.

is there anyway to mount it without drilling holes in my dash?

I know you didn't want holes in your dash, and it makes it visible to theives ( I KNOW - the one far below is my 2nd one)

OR if you don't like your radio:

You don't actually look down at that tac and drive do you? Jeez. And you need to find something a little more permanent, or make it look like it belongs there.

I mounted mine up where the visor is easy to see. You can use the existing visor holes to mount it. Don't have a photo of my camaro, but here is one of another car of mine I did it in.

I drilled the holes and mounted mine on the dash like the first pic, I hated to do it, but it had to go somewhere.

Had I waited another year to put one in, I would have hung it off the 10 pt cage up by the rearvies mirror

put in your driverside pillar by the windshield. small and short screws will work, but be sure to let it rest on the dash for added support and max visibility. be sure to add a small piece of velcro on the dash to help from scratching your dash. i originally had mine mounted there and i was cutting 1.4x 60ft times and it never moved. mine is now mounted in my cage.

Well if you can go with a smaller tack you can mount one to the steering column and see it through the steering wheel.

I have the MSD pen tach. It's small, bright, accurate, and out of the way. Has programmable shifts for 4 gears:

Why not just get a Shift Light?

Ive been using one for 5 years w/ stock tack. Unless you launch over 5K of course.

You could always ditch the extra tach and run a clutchless, air shifted, rpm activated, trans
