Default What to get - MT Drag Fronts, or just cheap 165 radials?

So I'm choosing what to get now. MT Drags are more expensive, and I think much heavier? Car is 360whp now, hope for 700whp. Skinnies won't be driven on street. So what should I get - MTs, or some cheapish radial 165-R15?
Please advice

I'm thinking about these radials: 165/65 R15 81H. Rated at 130mph sustained, 1019lbs per tire which I think is enough for front (my TA has 1050lbs x2 now over front wheels)

I like my MT Drag fronts. I don't think they are heavier, maybe the sportmans but not the Drags. I would personally run the MT Drag or Morooso Front runners.

Why most get Sportsmans, not MT Drags or Moroso?

I know on dlove's car his skinnies were way lighter with the ET Fronts than they were with a regular radial on it.

The Sportsmans weigh more, but are legal for street driving.

If you are going to run your tires/wheels at the race track only, buy a race track only tire.

well some trips to track will be 200miles each way... But what's more important, pair of Kumhos is $110, pair of Morosos or MT is $260... Kumhos weigh 16lbs, MT ET Fronts - 12lbs
Has anyone had problems with radials, not daily-driving them? Weight rating is OK, but speed rating only 120mph (sustained speed)

I have daily driven on my regular radials and then went to the track and trapped around 140 on them. I know it's not the safest thing in the world but I think a 360rwhp car would be fine with them. JMO

My safety is most important to me. The kumhos are not made for the weight of our cars.

As I wrote I hope for 700whp soon, so maybe 130mph traps, don't know. But it might not happen before next year

Harley: their load rating is perfectly fine for f-body

Do you have a link to these? Maybe these are different than the kumhos I had. Most radials made in similar sizes are for a VW Beetle which is not fine for an f-body. I had mine inflated to the maximum psi recommended by the manufacturer and they still looked under inflated once the weight of the car was placed on them. I didn't feel comfortable running them so I switched to the Sportsmans. If these are in fact a different tire, then go for it.

Think those are the same everyone is using, Kumho Power Star 758, 165/80R15 87T (and 87 means 1201lbs per wheel)

Those are the ones. Unless they changed them from a couple years ago, I wouldn't run them on a full weight f-body.

I have the M/T Sportsman front.

I TRULY amazes me that someone would risk death or at least trashing your investment on a pair of Volkswagen tires....boggles my mind.

I blew a cheapie tire back in 2001, I have this pic up but I have a better pic of the messed up tire at home if I can find it...

If you are going to drive 200 miles, make 700rwhp, go fast, I would get the MT Sportsman 8 plys if your car is full weight. If it's super light get the 4 plys.

Pay the extra money and get M/T's.

Check out what happened to this guy's front runner.

I don't think I'm buying heavy Sportsmans... Either Kumho or MT ET Front or Moroso DS-2, but can't really decide. Kumho are fine as to load but speed index is low
