where in NHRA rules says spacers are illegal?
just wondering. a few local guys are telling me that the NHRA rule book doesnt say anywhere that spacers are illegal. In fact, they say that dragsters use them all the time? everything i have read here and at tracks tell me they are not allowed (and dangerous). i have had the wheels cut the studs off while moving! not cool. dont want to get into the debate whether they can be made safe or whatever, just wanted someone to look it up or figure out what is the truth. thanks!

I was always under the impression that it had to do with how many turns on the studs you can get on the lugs. Like that if you had to go with spacers, you had to get extended studs. I could easily be wrong, especially since I don't run either spacers or extended studs, but hopefully someone else can answer this.

I'm pretty sure there is no such rule anywhere in the rule book... I don't personally have one here, so I can't check for sure though...

We really should find the answer to this. My guess is that only single spacers are allowed and only up to a certain thickness (3/16" perhaps?). But, that's just a guess.

I have used spacers on 7 second cars on the rear trying different wheel combos, granted thats with 5/8 sleeved studs/nuts but a spacer is a spacer. The brake rotors on these cars are a spacer of sorts. The only enforced rule is the stud has to go so far into the HEX part of the nut. Even with long ARP studs on the front with welds there isnt enough stud with 5/16 spacers so they wouldnt be legal - I guess you could say its the spacer's fault..
Dont have an NHRA rulebook handy but I dont recall seeing spacers mentioned directly.

there is nothing against spacers in the NHRA rule book. however, VERY few tech inspectors anywhere will let you run with them
