Not real sure on that one without the alternator.
Maybe someone can help out.

You could measure it with a piece of string.....that'll get ya close

Hahahahahahahahahaha. I pray that you're joking about bypassing the alternator.

+1 for the string method

No joke, since when do you need an alternator for a few track passes? Will the voltage be too low for my fuel pump? Whats your concern?

I keep forgetting that LS1's water pump is also driven by the belt. IMO I wouldn't attempt it because when at WOT, thats the last place I would want a voltage drop to happen. I mean you could try it. But I personally wouldn't. The alternator is there for a reason lol. Its not a "luxury" item like the A/C and P/S

Just charge the battery between rounds and don't run the car more than needed for each pass. I don't see the huge deal, check out any true racecar, no alternator...

Power steering and A/C should help me out.

If you got a shorter belt that just ran from the balancer to the alternator to the water pump. Then that would still help out some cause you wouldn't have the parasitic power loss of the P/S and A/C

If you would keep the alternator, it would be a 6 rib 151" - 151.5" belt

On mine though, I'm a little concerned about the contact area on the water pump. My car seems to run a little hot. May be just time to switch to an electric pump.

How much does it suck with out your powersteering??? Did you get a manual rack and pinion? Or did you do the bypass mod.

I just ran a bypass line on my rack. It's not that bad on skinnies.

Take the AC belt off, that's all it runs anyways. 51.5" on the PS delete belt. Keep in mind though, if it's an auto you'll have to "carefully" massage those tranny cooler lines down a bit for it to clear.

I wouldn't bypass the alternator, especially if it's a DD..........and most pure-breed racecars don't have nearly as much voltage need as a DD late model f-body.

Never run a 12 volt system without an alternator..... EVER. It's not true that most racecars don't use one, most do these days and the ones the don't are probably hurting their performance. An alternator with a fully charged battery only takes a couple of horsepower to turn and you'll have around 14 volts. Without one your voltage will most likely be below 10 volts, not good, your ignition system will suffer. A lot of mystery misses can be traced back to insufficient voltage, especially with N20.
