Default Extended cowl guys come in

Where exactly are you trimming your hoods? The extended cowl hoods from VFN have a trim line in them but it's too low. If I trim at that line it will not cover the entire cowl area and thats the whole purpose of buying the hood, plus I want it to come all the way back to where the fender and mirrors meet. I no longer have the stock plastic cowl on the hood and I plan on cutting the support out.

Has anyone trimmed it without going as far as the line and filled the line with anything? I work at a dealership with a major bodyshop attached so I have access to just about anything I need...

Here are a few pictures of the hood layed on the car.

Damn man, I was just trying to help you out by telling you that there are already threads posted about this, and I wasn't trying to be a smartass...

Anyways back on topic, when you trim yours will you take pics of before and after to show the difference? I have been looking on Racecraft's website for their rails for the dzus fasteners for this hood. I am thinking about getting one of these to drop some weight on the front end, and I came up with an idea. Whether or not it would work is a different story, but where my car is black I have been thinking if I could powdercoat the dzus fasteners it would look much cleaner, but I am not sure how well it would hold up...

First you need to build all your zeus fastners get the hood as stright as possible how it is and put ur zeus in the hood and clip it down. that way the hood is not mooving all over the place when u star trimming. once u get it pined down u just need to mark and trim takes a few times.

Here is what I did... I started trimming one inch at a time until I got it to where I liked it. That trim line is MAJOR BS..... If you do it that far you'll have no hood left..... The cowl is the major PITA cuz you'll have to cut around corners. Use the 1" at a time rule and fit the hood each time. You have to trim it to where you like it BEFORE you put the dzus in cause it will make the hood fit different. On the sides I would get it to where you have it touching the window barely and it's holding the hood level on the backing plates when you install them. With the cowl I would trim it back so it's like 1/2" to 3/4" back from the windshield... Then at least you have some pressure relief in the back so when you are at some insane speed on the track the hood doesn't try to rip off the car.... I wouldn't leave it all touching cuz IMO it won't let any air out and will cause the hood to deform more (assuming this is going on a 130+ MPH trap speed car.....

What exactly did yall use to trim the hood near the windsheild? I'm thinking about using a rotozip but I am afraid that the torque might cause me to jump and screw something up. Does anyone have any pictures or advise when it comes to trimming? I need to get this done by thursday so the car can go to paint.

i used an airsaw. it worked nice. jigsaw will work good too with a fine tooth blade. just cut a little at a time. easier to cut more off then it is to add it back on.

I am not selling the hood... I am going another route. If anyone needs a brand new hood for a good price let me know!
