passengerside airbag and bracket help please
I have removed my passengerside air bag nd I was looking at the braket that holds it and it apears I could lose even more wieght by removing it but it also apears that it bolts to my glove box to hold the door for it. has anyone come up with a way to remove the bracket and retain the glve box? also what is the air bag worth if I try and sell it? it is a 2000 trans am btw guys

do u have your dash off? dash brace runs behind the whole dash. airbag and bracket are mounted to the dash brace

did you remove all the duct-work connected to the dash? duct-work has to be removed to remove the dash brace. with duct-work removed from the dash, u should see the dash bracing. u will know what im talking about when u see it. it runs the whole length of the dash

yes, just locate all the small hex screws and remove them. i removed my dash bracing and airbag/bracket all in one piece. u dont have to reuse the v-brace that was under the steering column either. it mounts onto the dash brace

mine mounted up just fine. mine is mounted by just the top screws. dash is super-light without bracing and airbag. didnt have to customize anything. there are relays mounted to the dash brace with clips. since i dont have a dash brace anymore, i mounted the relays to the backside of the dash with 2-sided tape

firewall insulation-13lbs
dash brace-6lbs
i also removed all my insulation under the carpet, tunnel insulation and insulation behind the panels beside the back seats
didnt weigh the insulation, but i threw only the insulation away in an empy trash can and it was pretty hefty

good to know also the firewall insulation is this the thick black rubber matt with a thin layer of insulation? or is there something elsec I am missing? because if the black rubber matt is not the insulation your refering to then there is plenty more wieght to come out.
