TSP231/237 Patriot LS6 style head: Dyno Results
Drove the 75 miles down to Walker Dyno Tune today, strapped the car down and made three pulls without a cooldown. The best one was 451.4rwhp 403.5rwtq, the other two were over 450rwhp and 400rwtq also. This was with NO DYNO tricks and at an independant dyno, not at TSP!! Also, I DO NOT have an electric waterpump yet and I was spinning 17x11 rears. Another item of note is that on the first run my trans (which had been acting up) decided to hang in fourth gear.. so for the other dyno runs I started the car in fourth gear, so all the people that were saying the TSP cam doesn't have torque.. well I beg to differ. Also the dyno at walker is not a "high" dyno.. for example, right after I dyno'd Mitchell McCord dyno'd his 2002 Z06 with the RP motorsports Stage II H/C package.. his third pull made 426rwhp and 38xrwtq.. at RP a few month ago it made 440rwhp. The 918 springs didn't break and the cam peaked right at 6300rpm. I have the graph scanned, but cannot host it.. if someone can post it for me, please mail me at sculbert1@netzero.net and I'll mail it to you in the morning...I've had a long day and I'm going to bed now. I'd like to thank Blake Walker of Walker Dyno Tune, Terry from Patriot Performance, Jason and Trevor from TSP.. you guys made my dream of having a 450rwhp daily driver come true!!
THANKS!
Scott
THANKS!
Scott

Thanks Tony, and you know it wouldn't have made such good numbers without your "special retainers"!! Thanks for helping me out on those

Thanks for posting that for me. The red graph is when I had the TR220 and the Patriot 5.3's, the only thing I changed between those two pulls was the heads and cam.

Nice numbers!! Is this with or without tunning for your current set up. Also what rear and gear are you running.

Excellent numbers Scott! Your car is making some killer power. FYI, the car put down 448 RWHP before doing any tuning on the car for a/f or timing. We flashed the PCM earlier this week with a base tune to make the car drivable when Gomer sent us his PCM. Peak HP did not come up much, but the a/f reading is MUCH better! The first a/f ratio looked like mountainous terrain.
Gomer's heads have a 59cc combustion chamber vs. the 5.3L unshaved heads with chamber work. Some of the added torque is from the added compression (about 1/2 of a full point increase), but that big cam starts making more horsepower and torque at 2,800 RPM. You could easily shift this setup at 6500 RPM, so I don't know where the 6800-7000 RPM shift points come from. The only time I race in a 2000-2800 RPM powerband is in my Duramax diesel.
Congrats on the new numbers Scott. Now get that tranny fixed!
