Default 404ci, A4, Trick Flow 225's..annnnd a very inefficient converter!!

Hey all,
Well we finally got my buddies car on the Dyno yesterday. Here is a run down of the set up.

404ci Iron block stroker.
11.9:1 Compression
Trick flow 225's out of the box.
246'/253' .635"/.642" 114 +4
Yella Terra UL 1.7's
Fast 90/90
Pacesetter LT's with a hooker Y.
Performabuilt stage 2 4L60-E with 3800 stall
Moser 9" with 3.70's and tru-track.
3.75" Driveshaft
SS 17X9.5's

Ok,
The converter is WRONG or toasted with 100 miles on it Even with the converter locked up, it NOSE dives at 6k rpm like it is letting go and unlocking. (not a valvetrain issue).

With the converter unlocked, it pulls to 6700 no problem.

The difference we saw between locked and unlocked was over 65 hp at times.

We just ordered a new Pro Yank 3600 Extreme, and we will have some new numbers in a week or two. I'm surprised it made over 500 with this converter and the rest of the drive drain though

Thanks guys,
Well, still kinda undecided on the tire. Probably thinking an M/T 325/50/15 drag radial. Hopefully that will hook up. We are gunna spray a 150 right outta the gate though. I'm trying to convince him to go with a 28/11.5/15 ET drag. We'll see though lol. I'm going to start tearing it down and getting ready to put in the yank converter. Hopefully we will have some different numbers up soon

Well the car has a cut out in it. With the converter unlocked it pulls high no problem. It only nose dives with the converter locked up.

does it nose dive back to the power level with the converter unlocked?
sounds like its getting hot or the lock up clutch is wore out.

Yeah the lock up clutch is toasted..the converter is just trashed. The yank should be here this thursday or friday so hopefully next monday or tuesday we will check the new numbers.

I'm trying to convince him to a full slick lol. Thats all I ever run, but he drives the car every day. We will definitely make a bunch of passes on slicks at some point though.

I am pleased with the base numbers, once the converter issue is fixed we will head to the dyno and the track.

I put the new verter in last night and got it all buttoned up. The new one is much tighter and has a much better feel to it. We should strap it on the dyno by the end of the week i'm thinking.

Well, we figured out that the trans itself is toasted...so we are debating on what to do..but it sounds like TH-400 and a yank verter. I'll keep this updated, and hopefully we won't lose too much power lol.
