BABY Cam guys under 228 and under 600 lift inside please. I'm not happy
Well I just had my car dyno tuned today and I'm not happy with the results. My cam is a small one 225/225 on a 112lsa. Mods on the car are
Comp cam 225/225 on a 112 ls1 around 588 lift
LoudMouth 2
LS6 intake
Lid
home ported TB
MSD wires
Pacesetter LT's and ORY
SAE corrected 357.86hp 357.87tq on a Dynojet.
Uncorrected is 362.38 362.39
I'm far from a newb as I have owned 9 LS1 cars in my life and my Old SS with Torquer V2 put down over 380. I was just expecting around 370 mark. I know I'm missing a underdrive pulley but damn..I wouldn't of picked this cam but the previous owner did Oh well the Vette will have a nice cam sooner or later.

Well finish the bolt ons and add a good set of milled AFR 205's and you'll have 410+ rwhp and sound like a complete sleeper. Drivability will be almost 100% like stock and the springs will last a lot longer then with the big thumper cams. With a good tune, you will probably forget that you have a cam in it.

I made 375rwhp/377rwtq in my old Formula with a 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa cam, Hooker LTs, 3'' TDs, Lid and a tune. Still had stock LS1 intake and stock throttle body. Dyno'd on 2 different dyno's in 2 different states, so it wasn't just a generous dyno reading.
How reputable is your tuner?

how much power did it make before the cam?If you were only making 300hp before the cam on the same dyno,i would say it was a nice gain.Without that, you really have no frame of reference.

I put down around 410rwhp and 390tq with some 243's and a smallish cam about your size. Gained 80hp and 50ish tq over baseline. https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...80hp-53tq.html

Your dyno graph would show a lot.
With a 225/225 115 your HP/TQ should not be maxing out at 5250 RPM's. That is the only way those two numbers can be nearly identical (from your post).
Knowing the advance on that cam and the method installed (degreed) would tell a lot.
Lot of experienced cam installers/tuners on this forum. But sounds more like an installation issue.
Hope you figure it out.

99's are not dyno queens at all....LOL The heads werent the best. With a tr224, Stainless Works 1 3/4 headers and LS6 intake I made 373 with my 99 SS. So your numbers do seem a little low but like Shawn said knowing what it started with would be a better gauge.
Good set of heads would be the direction I go before a bigger cam. DO a compression test first though... you never know whats going on until you check things out

I dont care what anyone says, before you ever tune a car, you should have fresh plugs in it. Also, you always ask for a baseline pass. Just because a dyno B says its making more then dyno A, doesnt mean it really is. Im not saying thats the case here just givin my $0.02.
